Re: Beinn Mhanach from Glen Lyon

Think we crossed paths as you were heading in and I was walking back along Loch Lyon towards the dam. Done much the same route though walked round the back & up the north west side before descending the way you came up. Don't envy you taking the bikes over the river as that's a fairly big step i...

Ben Vuirich

Ben Vuirich done from Loch Moraig. Excellent sunny day for it. Small sections of bog were easy to navigate around. Never saw anyone all day apart from a bloke sunbathing at the top of Ben Vuirich  .

5 hours 48 mins in total.

Re: An Cladach to be closed due to Bothy Bible

Ach I'm sure you know what I meant? I don't doubt the estate's comments blaming the book are in some minutes but that does not mean their claims are factual, politicians are getting away with spouting the first nonsense that comes into their head whether correct or not so I've no doubt an estate rep...

Re: An Cladach to be closed due to Bothy Bible

So to summarise 10 pages... A (yip, just the one) bothy is to close in the non-peak seasons (unless you've got loads of tweed and a gun then it's yee-haa time) almost a year from now due to unsubstantiated claims from an estate representative about a book that it has been agreed was going to be rele...

Re: An Cladach to be closed due to Bothy Bible

As a bothy virgin I know hee-haw about bothy politics however reading this thread it comes across as individuals with an agenda against the current MBA decision makers or Geoff Allan specifically. It might well have been said from estate personnel that the reason for the An Cladach moratorium is dow...

Re: Kayak/Canoe

I was keen to try getting on the water so picked up a Sevylor inflatable last year to get started. Only been out a handful of times on a few different lochs but love it already. Offers a new sense of freedom to go places that feels similar to when I first got my driving licence. Opens up new options...

Re: Beinn Narnain and Beinn Ime

Couple of small patches of snow on Beinn Bhuidhe today, all easily passed. North sides of Ime & Narnain have very little snow so fair to assume the Arrochar approach of these two should be fine.

Re: Beinn Narnain and Beinn Ime

Was on the Grahams down by Lock Eck today, could see as far as Ben Cruachan, barely a spot of snow to be seen anywhere so doubt crampons will be needed anywhere in the area.

Re: Boggiest Hills?

I'll take your word for it Lightfoot, after a promising walk in with glimpses of blue sky I ended up walking in clag most of the way.

I'll go back one day, once my recollection of the bog has faded into a very distant memory.

Re: Boggiest Hills?

Done the Monadhliath trio at the weekend, they were probably the worst I've experienced so far, waders required stuff up and down. Fortunately the bog on the plateau towards Carn Sgulain was frozen but the boots were like wet sponges by then. New boots also on the radar for me!

Re: Sron a Choire Ghairbh - question

Your cairn picture looks identical to mine from last Tuesday.

According to my GPS it had me at the summit so I'm confident it was the right top although I'll go back someday as I got the feeling it would've been a nice walk had I been able to see anything.

Re: Snow, cornices & rock makes Beinn a'Chaorainn looks grea

Just missed you, went past that way around 6.30 on my way to the Loch Lochy pair. You chose wisely, I didn't see a thing from the bealach up due to clag.

Nice pictures, well done.
