Beinne Bhuidhe conditions

I'm thinking about going up the above-mentioned hill this weekend.

Does anyone have any idea of the current underfoot conditions?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Re: Outdoorsy film review - is there a thread yet

For me, it has to be 'Into the Wild'. Its a marvellous, touching, very human film, directed by Sean Penn. It's based on the true story of Christopher McCandless who set off into the Alaskan wilderness by foot to try and live off the land. But it all ended tragically when his naievity and lack of pre...

Re: Hit or Miss Summit

I have a nagging feeling that I didn't actually / technically summit either one of Beinne a Chleibh OR Ben Lui about ten years ago. The clag was terrible....visibility was about 30ft and I recall wandering around the summit area of one of these (I forget which) looking for the cairn. After about 20m...

Re: How many photos do you take on a day out?

It's very rare I'll take photos on a day out these days. I have literally thousands of pics from my first few years of Munro bagging. Thing is, no one is particularly interested in seeing them. My kids - who once took a moderate interest in my bagging achievements - now don't even pretend to be inte...

Grey Corries.... ANTIclockwise

I'm planning on doing the Grey Corries soon. Looking at the WH route description - which suggests doing Stob Choire Claurigh first - I'm just wondering if anyone has done it in the opposite direction to the route description here? - ie start with Stob Coire an Laoigh first? (then Sgurr C Mor; then S...

Stob Daimh - snow on top?

Does anyone know if there's snow on top of SD (and I guess Ben Cruachan) at the moment?

The forecast for Sunday is looking pretty good, and I'm looking to do these. I don't like walking in the white stuff.

Any advice gratefully received as ever.

Re: Road Conditions in Rural Perthshire

Many thanks all.

Decided to err on the side of caution and give the hill a miss today. Not worth taking the risk.

Happy New Year to ane and a'.

Road Conditions in Rural Perthshire

I'm looking at bagging Meall Bhuidhe with a couple of pals tomorrow. Has anyone any idea what the road conditions are like out that way, esp the single track roads such as that leading up to Giorra Dam? Thing is, none of us have big heavy 4 x 4 cars, and we don't want to risk slipping n sliding and ...

Re: Losing motivation to visit the hills

So much of what so many people have written here resonates with me. I won't repeat or duplicate what others have said. I'm amazed that covid has had such a direct impact on the mental health of many. That's something I'm lucky to have avoided. I lost my hills mojo maybe 3-4 yrs ago when I was going ...

Reversing Polarity on a Compass

My compass has reversed its polarity. Probably kept it too close to my mobile phone (magnetic clasp in phone cover. ) In the past I've sent it off to those lovely people at Silva who re-reverse the polarity for you free of charge. But that takes 2-3 weeks. Apparently it's easy to do yourself-...

A'Chralaig and Mullach Fraoch-choire...what's the problem?

https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/kintail/Achralaig.shtml#route-profile Just wondering is there's a reason that this walk couldn't (or shouldn't) be done in reverse to what is detailed here? The steep initial ascent is really off-putting. Reversing the route would seem to be a more palatable approach....
