Re: A Wintery Forcan Ridge

This looks brilliant, very alpine. I've done the Aonach Eagach in winter but this looks much more severe. Great video, will we be seeing more? Thanks Bankokian :) I'd say they're similar depending on the conditions on the day. As for more, I'll try and get more pictures/videos for posting up report...

Re: Ring of Steall, Winter whiteout and wind.

Challenging conditions ! Well done. Thanks Onsen :) Looks like it was pretty challenging! DId you use hand or GPS nav methods??? I've walked in circles more than once in whiteouts, even with a compass :( Hi Alteknacker, it was indeed challenging at times but great fun! All map and compass methods f...

Ring of Steall, Winter whiteout and wind.

Just a quick report, enjoy :) Forecasts were looking favourable for us and the snow was more stabalised in the Lochaber region so the plan was made to head to Glen Nevis yesterday from Edinburgh for a day out on The Ring of Steall. Upone reaching the carpark we were met with this lovely view: wh1.jp...

Stob Binnein and Ben More from Inverlochlarig

Thought I'd have a wee solo blast up two fairly local (to Edinburgh) Munros that were in good winter condition and had an excellent enjoyable day out! Turned up to the carpark for sunrise(ish) to find myself as the 4th car in, and luckily managed to set off as the 2nd on the hill. I quickly overtook...

Re: Is it crampon time yet?

I'm hoping to get out walking this week and I was wondering if I would need my crampons ans axe? I've seen loads of pictures of folk walking in the snow and I was wondering if they had theirs on yet? I will be doing munros closer to Glasgow, nothing too scary. Thanks all If you're going into the hi...

Beinn Each, Loch Lomond & The Trossachs NP

Yesterday saw me collecting Calum and Rhonwyn from Edinburgh for a hill walking day trip to the Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National Park so we could climb the Corbett, Beinn Each. The day began with typically Scottish weather – rain – for our drive north. We parked the car at the bank of Loch Lub...

A Winter Expedition – Monadh Mor and Beinn Bhrotain

Finally, a high pressure weather system!! On Monday 10th March we headed up to the Cairngorms (best looking weather forecast) for a 2 day mini adventure. We had 3 munros left to do in the area, accessible from Glen Feshie, so did these with a wild camp on the plateau. Day one was Mullach Clach a Bhl...

Re: A Wintery Forcan Ridge

Thanks for the comments guys.

The video does make it look a little spicier than it is.
However, I would recommend not just jumping on it without experience in winter scrambling.

Re: A Wintery Forcan Ridge

Thanks guys.

The video is just under 3 minutes and all the footage has been sped up to show the bulk of the best sections.

It was an amazing ridge to do in the summer and just as good, if not better, in winter conditions. :)
