Re: Carnedau horseshoe from Ogwen valley

If you have a bit more time when you return it’s worth continuing to Pen Yr Helgi Du and descending the very pleasant grassy ridge rather than the relentless tarmac road. You come out at the same point

Glen Loy Oakwood

We are not normally fans of walking through forestry plantations but would recommend this walk. The conifers soon gave way to the oak woods and we enjoyed watching a pair of red squirrels - such brilliant aerial acrobats.

Stalking

Any advice on stalking restrictions when the Heading for the Hills website says no information available. I’m aware there’s no stalking on Sundays. I’m particularly interested in the Corbetts south of the Glennfinnan road - Rosbheinn round and Beinn Odhar etc.

Re: Car access for Strathfarrar Munros

I was there on a weekday with a good forecast last July. I arrived early at the car park and was the only one there when the gate opened

Penmeanach

Not really a walk report. Just a suggestion that anyone doing this very enjoyable walk should take a look at the Penmeanach Bothy website as this gives some history of Penmeanach including a reference to the Viking boathouse which is easy to find once you know it’s there.

We use a Berlingo with an Android boot jump unit. This provides a sitting as well as sleeping option so worth researching

Evening walk in the Ladder Hills

We left Badnaban reluctantly then returned to collect our waterproofs. This eventually worked to our advantage as we had mostly dry weather on our walk up this Corbett above Corgarff Castle . Track most of the way. Fine views of Ben Avon. Nice to see a new area and keen to return and do more.

Short walk in Glen Shee

G drove us down from near Lecht where we had stayed in the van. Quick up and down en route to the ferry. Our summit wasn't in cloud but most others were.

Glen Cannich afternoon

Long drive down from near Scaraben meant a mid afternoon start. Great view point across Glen Strathfarrar, west to Glen Carron and of course the Affric hills. Lots of maybe paths over rough ground and some slabs. Stayed in van at our start point afterwards

Scaraben

Afternoon walk with Geoff after a morning walk with Vicky and Terry. Very windy so did the first two summits only. Boggy approach then fine. Great views of Morvern and the far north. Stayed in van just down the road afterwards.
