Recently bought a pair of Manta's for winter mountaineering. First pair of B2's and trying them on they feel great :D got enough room in them and they allow decent ankle flex. The problem I have had with them is getting sore calves after walking around the block. Also got a sore heel in them. Is thi...

Re: Devils Point, Cairn Toul and Angel's Peak from Linn of D

Interesting, descriptive report with nice photos  . I was quite interested in this route as it looks great for a long summer day. One question-do you think it would be possible to cycle a bit past Derry lodge and if so, how much further and what is the path like? Thanks I think you could cycl...

Devils Point, Cairn Toul and Angel's Peak from Linn of Dee.

The Cairngorm plateau is the highest region over 4,000 feet in the UK. It includes some of the largest Munros in Scotland such as, Ben Macdui, Braeriach, Cairn Toul, Sgor an Lochan Unian (The Angel's Peak) and Cairngorm all in the top 10. One of the most spectacular walks in the region, and possibly...

The suger loaf, Dublin

As I was away in Dublin for my hollidays to relaxe I could not resist climbing a hill or two abroad. My family and I drove to the car park at the bottom "sugar loaf" and began an afternoon walk. It was a fairly easy path to walk on from the car park, the path is wide and the only difficual...

Re: Top 10 Munros

Too hard a question for me ;) . To give the cliche police something to complain about, I'll go for the "every walk is special in it's own way" line. Also, I can never decide what is a mountain and what is a summit? Is the Skye Cuillin 1 large mountain or many separate mountains? I realise...

Re: Top 10 Munros

These top ten of mine are in mind of the views you get from the top and not the turain you are walking on. As you can see my top 4 are all nearly close together with Liathach being my #1 by a long long way. Now if you said what was your favourite group of hills well that would be the four in Strath...

Re: Top 10 Munros
