Re: Astonishing Assynt: Two nights at Suileag & a Canisp cli

A great bothy/trip report as usual, Mal, and spectacular weather for such a pretty part of the world. That ridge is my favourite way up Canisp. Haven't stayed in Suileag, which is perhaps one of the busier bothies, although we did camp nearby which was about as good

Re: Bagging Munros During CWT

And once you're far north, consider also climbing some non-munros. There are absolutely stunning mountains (e.g. Suilven, Ben Sparkle, Foinaven....) A traverse of Foinaven would be a great way of coming towards the close of the route. Having said that, I did think about doing it for about 2 seconds...

Some Grahams around Perthshire

Ah we had more exciting plans for this weekend - had hoped to have a wander around the Alladale Grahams & Corbetts but the weather just wasn't playing ball - snow and high winds don't make for high camps and long exposed routes. So I turned my eyes nearer home - there was a wee cluster of Graham...

Re: Bagging Munros During CWT

As an alternative, you could do Thuilm first then come off Sgurr nan Coireachan's nw shoulder (there's a path) and head east along glen pean, use the bothy or camp along that glen and rejoin the track for a'chuill As for the Sgurr na Ciche 3, have done them with a big pack, it's ok. I'd suggest you ...

Re: Water bottle pouches

I thought it looked suspiciously like a medical urine sample. Talking of which, has no-one found my water bottle which I lost near Corrie an Sneachda some years back? Green and white with a label reading "Medical Urine Sample" to deter theives... Surprisingly close  Actually ...

Re: Water bottle pouches

I bought a 600ml silicone bottle for attaching to my rucksack - having got a bit sick of bladders leaking/not knowing when they're empty. I also quite like to pop an electrolyte tablet in on longer days. Anyway, these were cheap and do the business - robust silicone which I think will last longer t...

Bagging around Cannich

It's getting to that point where I am now looking to see what summits I've got left and what the most efficient way of doing them would be. Can get a bit tiresome, but - in pursuit of the greater goal, needs done. I knew there were 4 hills up near Cannich which would suit a not-very-exertive weekend...

Ice Cold on Vurich

With our aim of putting in some track miles in preparation for our HebWay walk next month, I thought it might be a good idea to head to Perthshire. The forecast was, when I saw it on Wednesday, for dry and settled weather. It's been so warm recently that the idea of snow and coldness was far from my...

Coulags wrote:Has anyone been in to the above via Strathan and Meoble ?

If so what would be your preferred route ?

Does anyone know if anyone runs a boat ?

Thanks in advance

Yes. I prefer the way in by Strathan. Glen Pean is very pretty.

Re: Over the Sea to Raasay

Lovely report and pics. We were looking at Raasay last weekend, Allison was reminding me we still have one Marilyn to do on the island, a rather out of the way one. Dun Caan is a great hill though.

Re: Oban Bothy in April?

Glen Pean bothy is fine, although the new outside toilet shed was demolished by the elements. It’s in the process of being re-assembled. (See my report from a fortnight back). Oban bothy is also in fine condition. One of the metal window shutters that keep people out has sheared off, we found it lyi...

Out of Puff in Ardgour

Another pretty good weekend for weather, snow still on the hills. Didn't get away til Friday morning, and had various ideas to do the three Grahams at Callops then maybe three down at Glen Gour. I'd packed my overnight gear in a rucksack I'd never used for carrying a big load - a winter Osprey Mutan...

Re: Seeking the perfect Winters day on Ladhar Bheinn

Sunday was an absolutely perfect day for the hills and I envy your particular choice - my own was far more pedestrian (but still wonderful). I couldn't conceive of walking in and out to do Ladhar Bheinn on the same day - in summer, let alone in winter! What a great trip though, once you'd got there....

The south? The route we did first time round?
