Bla Bheinn

Blimey ! What a walk. And what a way to spend an anniversary (19th) 18 years after being hailstoned off Marsco, we go to the summit of Bla Bheinn, with both offspring. How fantastic were they? Very straightforward up to the coire for lunch, then missed the path off up to the ridge. Some creative rou...

Haystacks

A wonderful walk. Tougher than expected scrambling at the top, and a very confusing summit.
Decided to leave Fleetwith Pike for another day.

Helvellyn & Catstycam

What a walk !
From Patterdale, along a beautiful beck to Grisedale. Up to the Hole in the Wall before tackling Striding Edge; the final scramble was longer than I had expected. Unwinding at the top, before heading back off down Swirral Edge, and taking in Catstycam, for old time's sake.
A perfect day.

Ben Vorlich

What a day! set out with Alison, Penny, Bruce and the four kids. Snow lying on the top of Ben Vorlich, or so it appeared from Ardvorlich. All made it safely to 2,000 ft for a lunch break, but the weather was turning. Fiona decided she had had enough, and Abby went back with her and Alison. The rest ...

A fabulous walk from which to view the route of yesterday's achievement.
Brilliant reflections in Wastwater to start.
Set out from Greendale, and enjoyed every step.
A perfect post script to Scafell Pike

Beinn Ime & Beinn Narnain

My first solo walk An unexpected highlight of the holiday. We set out together, more in hope than expectation, to give Jenny a chance to make up for the disappointment of Skye. Sure enough, she was not up to the walk, but I was given the chance to go on alone. Took the path up Beinn Ime, admiring t...

Ben Ledi

Ben Ledi: Jenny's Hat-trick Part I well, what did I know ? She did it! And, I couldn't have been more proud. 8 years old, and standing on top of a mountain just 18 feet short of Munro status. Wow ! "No darling, you're too little.", had been my response 12 months earlier, when Jen first as...

Ben Chonzie

Ben Chonzie: Jenny's Hat-trick Part II Well, I have read that this is Scotland's dullest Munro, but who could walk on a day like this and not enjoy the experience? As an added bonus, all four of us made it to the summit. A straightforward walk, but glorious sunshine, a bit of wildlife, including Mo...

Coir' an Eich

Sgurr na Banachdich: Jenny's Hat-trick Part IIIa A beautiful day in Loch Brittle; perfect conditions for Jen to try and finish her three year plan, but alas it wasn't to be. From the start of the walk it was clear she wasn't right. Even the slightest climb had her fighting for breath. I suspect a m...

Sgurr na Banachdich

Sgurr na Banachdich: Jenny's Hat-trick: Part IIIb What a day! One year on from Jen's aborted attempt to complete her hat-trick. Perfect conditions again. Easily into Coir' an Eich with Alison and Fiona, before pushing on together. Went 'off piste' a little for a spontaneous scramble up on to the Sg...
