Re: Walk distances in miles

feel rather foolish as I see individual walks have mileages - though they still would be useful on the walk lists

Walk distances in miles

People of a certain age will always measure walking (and other) distances in miles. So why not at least show the walk distances in miles as well as kilometres? It is very frustrating having to convert every distance to know how long a walk is going to be.

Re: Schiehallion, a Munro at last

yes!!! Well done you  Thank you mrssanta and McLEOD. Slightly taken aback by how friendly this site is, that you would be interested enough in my beginner's walks to comment. I could spend many happy hours reading other people's reports, feeling envious but getting ideas for the future. My 15...

Schiehallion, a Munro at last

So, my very long-awaited week's holiday was coming to an end. Each day a different walk from the Walkhighlands website (thanks, what a great resource), and just one more to do. Ever since reading about how Nevil Maskelyne spent four months in 1774 on the summit of Schiehallion measuring the gravitat...

Pap of Glencoe - just asking for it

It is such a familiar sight, just asking to be climbed. And there I was staying at the Glencoe Independent Hostel, and all I had to do was look up, and it was right there. However, having not climbed any mountain, of any size, for 40 years, I wan't sure it would be as easy as it looked. IMGP0988.JPG...

Kinlochleven to Blackwater, dry then wet

I had intended only a short stroll up along the West Highland Way section of this walk (the first couple of miles on the south side of the valley), but it was looking so nice I just kept going. This is where the track passes a small reservoir. IMGP1053.JPG The early view was dominated by the steep s...

Morar to Tarbert and much more

This is my first post, and so I am glad to be able to provide the first report on this walk. In fact it was much more than a walk – it was a part of great day out, starting and ending at Mallaig harbour. I drove from Glencoe to Mallaig in time to get the 10.10 train to Morar. I gave myself some extr...

Hello

I came across the website while planning a week-long late September holiday based at Glencoe. Through it I found accommodation, seven walks for seven days (printed off at a scale I could easily read) including one Munro (it is 40 years since I last climbed one), and other very helpful information (s...
