Re: New maps on Walkhighlands

Please Paul, is there any hope of you extending the system so that those of us Down South (much further south than Cumbria) can use the GPS as before. These last years I have used the GPS function to record distance, ascent, descent of each and every walk, be it only a couple of miles. Those are put...

Re: Wee leaf Destroyers.

Yes, Oaks in UK do get processionary moth attacks. We have them down south in Richmond Park, and I'm sure they will be elsewhere. The park authorities have a rigorous programme to try to be rid of them, spraying etc. Whether they will succeed, I don't know. I hope so, the big old oaks are a great fe...

Re: Walk Highland map issue

@The Rec:

As I read the OP, he does not mention what navigation method/kit he uses, simply stating he would like to have the WH routes available on his device as an additional input....................

Re: Sun damage...

I was referring to what is happening "down here" viz London now; Omicron is raging. Even a very short contact is all that seems to be needed. Crowds are to be avoided, indoors or out; public transport avoided etc. Too many folk are still thinking it cannot touch them...it is getting them t...

Re: Sun damage...

"Ironic that the chances of catching Covid in the hills is virtually zero!" Given the rate this new variant is spreading down in London, (R is said to be between 3 and 5, ie one person is infecting between 3 and 5 others), I wouldn't count on not catching it on a hill, certainly in still a...

Re: In praise of the litter pickers.

I've seen horses in the street here wearing an item a cross between a nappy and a bag, which catches solid effluent. Rider disposes of contents at end of ride. Not common, but not unknown either. What's good for towns can be good can work in the hills and glens too.

Re: Blair Atholl

I don't recall their room prices being quite that steep when I was last there - 2019 perhaps or 2017. Maybe they seek to recoup from the lost business this last 15 months. If I remember aright, the Atholl Arms has a good deal of their business from tours etc. I have manged to get a room their before...
