Three Awesome Skye Days

So at the beginning of the year I set myself the goal of climbing the Inn Pin as a treat for my 50th birthday. Originally I had planned to go to Skye in May, but...well...we all know what happened then! So the earliest I could get up there again was last weekend in Sept. The weekend before was terri...

Am Faochagach

My last day in Scotland I needed a hill to quickly get up and down again to catch my flight later in the day. With my failure to get any hills in on Friday (due to the wind/rain), and a great day yesterday, I wanted to drag my body up another hill given that the heat wave had finally arrived....and ...

Sgurr Breac, A' Chailleach

I booked myself a flight on Thurs evening up to Scotland to have 3 solid days of munro bagging. I hadnt been up since the snow flurries on Creag Megaidh in May so was keen to get up a few over the 3 days. In August the weather can be a bit changeable and this was certainly the case. The forecast was...

Creag Meagaidh

After rushing off Coire Ardair the last time I was up in February to watch the rugby, I was keen this time to ascend the Coire and climb up the Window to Creag Meagaidh to finish off the circuit. My mate Mat who joined me was keen to have a look at some of the classic climbs so would make a great da...

Creag Pitridh, Geal Charn

I flew up on the Thursday night and stayed over at Inverness SYHA. After a relatively sleepless night (some drunk came in at 1.30am and chose my bunk to perform his endless ramblings) I drove down the A9 to the A86, past Netwonmore and along Loch Laggan to the start of this walk. (ref 432830). After...

Carn Liath, Stob Poite Core Ardair

With the forecast for Sunday looking better than the starturday, I decided to climb Carn Liath and Stob Poite Coire Ardair on Sunday and try and get back down to watch the rugby! So a bit of timing was required. I started off at the Creag Meagaidh car park at Aberarder (483873) on a beautiful sunny ...

Geal Charn

Gael Charn was one of those hills I thought I'd keep for the winter. With relatively easy access and relatively easy walk I thought it would be ideal to do in the snow. However this was my third attempt to come up to scotland this winter to get some snow action, but wasnt to be! With better weather ...

Beinn a Chochuill and Beill Eunaich

After a long extended break from the hills, I was last in Scotland in May, so was seriously unfit. That being the case, I was intending to take my time this weekend and enjoy the hills. This route looked ideal with great views and a nice easy ridge walk, with a spot of good weather thrown in for goo...

Meall Buidhe

This was our 3rd Munro of the weekend. The weather was still gloriously sunny and our camp at Loch an Daimh was great. We woke up to more blue skies and ideal weather. After climbing stuc an lochan yesterday our hill today was Meall Buidhe. some folks do these 2 together but we were lazy ! :-) After...

stuc an lochan

The previous day we climbed Meall nan Tarmachan and after packing up our tents from Cruachan Farm campsite near killin we made our way up the Ben Lawers Reserve road once more to head across to Glen Lyon. This road is great! The day was sunny and warm and the only thing we had to contend with was th...

Meall Nan Tarmachan

I've always kept Meall nan Tarmachan for a 'rainy' day or more to the point to keep in my back pocket when stuck for something to do in the Lawers range. This is not becuase I thought it was any less of a walk than the others in the range, but because it sat out on its own off the main ridge. I was ...

Re: A'Bhuidheanach Bheag

Yeah thats why I wanted to do them in the winter...but the other munro was a different story in January....a total slog to get up with soft snow! It certainly makes a difference in good conditions and once you're up there its difficult to come down its so peaceful (in good weather of course) !
