Re: Speyside Sculpture competition

Thanks Paul. And thanks Kevin for your comments. The competition is proving popular already with over 2,000 page views. Keep your guesses coming in.

Re: Not so grey in the Grey Corries

Unless you forgot to mention your photographic assistant it looks like there was a lot of toing and froing involved. I noticed that too! My camera only has a 12second timer and my wee remote wouldn't work over that distance, so you must've been shifting to get yourself in those photos!! Exc...

Re: Braeriach in Winter

I agree with previous comments - that photo of the Lairig Ghru is stunning. If it were for sale I'd haggle for a copy! I seem to one of only a few who actually enjoy the Chalamain Gap. Although it's definitely more of a challenge wearing a big overnight pack and trying to carry a 35kg labrador!

Black waterproof jacket lost

As you may have seen in my report last week (Weekend Break) I lost my much loved black Mountain Hardwear waterproof jacket thanks to a very careless mountain rescue helicopter pilot. If anyone spots it in the vicinity of Glen Derry (or now possibly blown to the four winds anywhere on the Cairngorms)...

Re: Buachaille Etive Mor, Curved Ridge, an Awesome day

Brilliant stuff MS. Photos are awesome. I still have to do BEM the 'normal' way! I can only hope it's on a day like that. Stunning.

Re: Weekend "break" – a "trip" report.

Her name's Ola, you big lummox (heard that in a film once). I'd say go get 'er, but while I was trying to matchmake for her and Colin she let slip that she has a boyfriend in Washington (That's Washington, Newcastle, not DC), so I fear your besottedness will be unrequited. I knew about the bo...

Re: Weekend "break" – a "trip" report.

Toaster and tea towels would be very welcome but don't rush out to buy a hat just yet!

Re: Weekend "break" – a "trip" report.

PS congratulations Weemistermac on your future nuptials, a toaster and set of tea-towels okay for you?   Thanks Polly. I'm sure we'll be very happy. However, I think fate is going to have to take a hand in it. In all the excitement that comes with new love, we forgot to exchange pho...

Re: Weekend "break" – a "trip" report.

Thanks everyone for the comments. Glad to see there hasn't been too much in the way of finger-wagging too. I always do and will continue to carry a whole bunch of extras in my pack that (until Sunday) I haven't needed in 20 years of walking. A helicopter having to come looking for us always sounds e...

Re: Weekend "break" – a "trip" report.

Hey Stuart, I want to check that stookie. I reckon you were hung over after Saturday night, climbed one hill too many (unlike Colin and I!!!!) and then couldn't be bothered walking all the way down Glen Derry (which, as everyone knows, is a lot longer going down than it is going up). Hope to see yo...

Weekend "break" – a "trip" report.

Following a quick midweek text from fellow WHer, Gable Gable End, we had plans to meet up with MountainStar at the Clachaig on Friday evening. Along with Gable's mate, Dan, we were looking forward to finally working off some Christmas over-indulgences, banishing some January blues and notching up ou...

Re: So Long, but not Goodbye - The Cobbler

Oh and thanks for giving me an excuse for throwing a birthday party! As you know, I didn't want to make a big thing of my 29th :shh: but I'm so glad we did. It was a great night.

Same time next year??

Re: So Long, but not Goodbye - The Cobbler

I'm a bit late in stumbling on this TR mate. I got round to trying the chicken wing stuff you left me last night. Cracking stuff. I might have to pay you a visit State-side to sample more culinary delights! Don't worry – I'll bring some butteries in return! It was great knowing you dude, although I'...
