Re: Ardgarten to High Glen Croe

It is me again, I have not any replies about Jack and Mamie Crawley but have to report that the bench seat
has fallen to bits and been removed by the forestry folk. So farewell Jack and Mamie and thank you for
the rests that I had on that seat.

Re: Dumgoyach, a small bump, but worth a wee wander

Nice one. for years and years I have passed this bump and wondered about it, It looks scary and a place not to be when it is dark. I wonder if you found that the summit contains a ring of dead trees. I was told this by a guy in a pointy hat last week and he said that, like you found, there are no pa...

Re: Donich Water Hydro Scheme, Inveronich, Lochgoilhead Argy

Thank you magic din, good name, what does it mean? The info was useful but I am surprised at the low response so far. i have sent comments to the planning wallahs who say they will post them in due course. I am not a NIMBY or other reactionary but question the reasons for such upheaval in this area,...

Donich Water Hydro Scheme, Inveronich, Lochgoilhead ArgyllPl

Hi folk, I am a bit dismayed to hear about the above which I think from my first look at it will destroy one of my favourite
walks in the area which is near Lochgoilhead. Before I investigate further, do any of you know of this and have opinions
about it. cheers for now.

Re: now that, for the moment, I canny drive

thank you for info, I like the bit about buying a ticket ahead, I had the foresight to live
long enough to get a bus pass, so grey power rules. I will maybe see you on the bus sometime
thanks again.

now that, for the moment, I canny drive

Hi, Eddie Devlin the wanderer here. I would welcome any advice about getting the bus, train etc, to my favourite spot of Ardgartan and roundabout there. I know there is a bus, but I remember reading about how to board the bus especially at the bottom end of the rest and be thankful as the bus would ...

THE COBBLER

HI Eddie Devlin the Wanderer here. I needed to get out into my church of the hills on Wednesday 28th Nov. so set off to do the Cobbler. On the way up I took my time and let all those young folk pass me and tried not to feel as old as I felt. Even a guy as old or older passed. anyway it was a totally...

profile of walks

Hi again from the wanderer. I had a great walk yesterday from Ardgarten visitor centre, now closed by the way. Any thoughts on closure of centre leaving a nice set of toilets on site.? Anyway the walk was up the forest path to top of Glen Croe and then on to Ben Donich. What is it with Ben Donich? I...

another wee walk

Another wee walk Do you know the way our weather always seems to clear up round about tea time and the rain stops and the shy sun comes out for the evening. Well I thought I would plan accordingly so drove to Ardgartan visitor car park and got there at 4.30 pm. It was still raining but I had faith i...

the whangie on a stormy day

A spur of the moment thing. I had abandoned a previous walk the previous day due to bad weather, bad karma and bad discipline on my part. So on the Sunday I went out for a paper and milk etc , went on a wee drive to the Queens View and then decided to just take a wee walk up to the Whangie. One the ...

mobile phone coverage and emergency

Hi, I read an article about emergency numbers that let a mobile phone contact help in areas of poor reception etc. I cannot find this article but remember it advised using this facility. I know about ICE but this is a way of contacting rescue services. As I walk alone and am of mature years I think ...

greenock cut

Hi again, your map and route for this walk are both excellent. I only wish I had them with me, but folks I met assured me that it was impossible to get lost on this walk. I did not get lost but took a wrong left at the path to the reservoirs and had to turn back, also I left my satnav on the top of ...

ben a'an

Did this today Sunday, legs still a bit tired after the Cobbler last week, but soon loosened up. Very nice walk, not too hard, but not too easy either. There was a lot of mist and I was lucky at the top and got a good decko at Loch Katrine. I am so lucky, we all are so lucky to have all this scenery...
