Re: The Universal Hiking Club Glasgow

No I haven't read that book, only excerpts on the Internet about the Incident from various sources.
Looks like an interesting read, and not cheap either. I'll need to try and find one in a Second Hand Shop.

The Universal Hiking Club Glasgow

This is a long shot but does anyone have any information or old stories regarding the Universal Hiking Club (Glasgow). I remember my late father tell me about meeting under the big Clock on the corner of Argyle street, Hiking, visiting Youth Hostel's and only once did he talk about the 1959 New Year...

Osprey Atmos ag 65

To all Atmos users, I have used this pack a few times now with no issues other than a small bit of discomfort. The area that is giving me bother is right in the middle of my shoulder blades where the Anti-Gravity logo is (how ironic), I can feel it digging into that area of my back. So I'm wondering...

Re: Wild camping on a budget.

I've done numerous camps to date and prefer summits to be honest but I wouldn't take any of mine (3 Labs) as I think it's too cold for them. After one extremely cold night in Gencoe (Chrulaiste) I bought myself down slippers to wear inside my bag and I had hand warmers in there also. I just can't sl...

Re: Beinn Chabhair

 Well done Alex, I hate bog but sometimes there is no other option. I did this when it was covered in snow but on the way up even although the flat bit you mentioned was covered in ice, it was still one of the wettest hills I've ever done.

Leki Walking Pole on Ben Challum

Hi did anyone retrieve my Leki walking pole today from the fence post on Ben Challum. I was coming off the hill when everyone was going up, as we had set off early. I was wearing a blue Paramo jacket and my friend was wearing a black jacket. We said our hello's to everyone we passed on the way down,...

Re: GPS Android Phone App

I have been using Alpinequest. I used the free version, but quickly upgraded to the full package. I can store a whole area of map to my SD card for offline use and download gpx files of intended routes from WH straight to the map. I have found it to be a very useful tool. Like everything else, read ...

Ben Vorlich (Loch Earn) In full on winter conditions

As I work Mon-Fri and every alternate weekend, I am constantly frustrated by our ever changing weather and the demands of family life. Oh selfish me! the guy who gets two days off every twelve, so all of this determines when i can get out onto the hills. Over Christmas i treated myself to an Ice axe...
