Re: Recommendation for app that matches location to hike rou

The Walkhighlands app does pretty much what you're describing for the 2000+ routes on Walkhighlands, you can view your location in real time without phone signal, download the route so that you don't need signal and can use the description and mapping offline, and it is designed to be very low on ba...

Huge congratulations Sgurr - there's always another list/hill/long distance route/island etc so will be interesting to see what you tackle next - well done.

Re: The Allt Garbhlach crossing.

this has been on the walk description for Upper Glen Feshie (and other routes using this bit) and the map and GPS since the detour and makeshift bridge were put in by Wildland - might be useful for folk to use that bit of GPS if continuing through or for routes not on WH. https://www.walkhighlands.c...

Re: A walk spoilt

Hi JBartrup Sounds like a nasty experience. You might already have done it, but it helps if these issues get reported to the local Council's Access Officer - you can find the contact for Dumfries & Galloway here https://www.outdooraccess-scotland.scot/doc/scottish-access-officer-contact-list Acc...

Re: Speyside Way - Boat o'Brig to Craigellachie to Dufftown

The route is fully open at the moment - we post any closures/diversions in a warning section on each stage of the route description in case any club members need to check before they set off
https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/speyside-way.shtml

Hope they have a great trip.

Re: Maps issues

Hi Ellie

Yes, on route maps scrolling has been restricted to the area of that route.

If looking at maps more generally, we have freely scrolling map with all routes marked which can be accessed via the 'Walks nearby' link. Or we have a GPS planner across all of Scotland.
