Re: Stob an Aonich Mhoir

Hi I was intending to do this as a bike/hike soon. I have a heavy eMTB so at the locked gate do you think I will get it through the pedestrian gate as lifting it any height is not really an option?

Hi looking to do a few of these on the same day as short outings. Where did you start Cacra from to get the track?

Re: Grange fell

Good fun with your son scrambling through the trees. Bet he enjoyed it more than a straightforward track. One for him to remember even if it was just a small one lol,

Re: East Cairn Hill from Carlops.....Watch out for the coos

Thanks, I was aware of it. In fact, last year after doing the two Cairns my return route was to head that way and on to Currie.

Re: East Cairn Hill from Carlops.....Watch out for the coos

Thanks, the small fence would not have stopped that big boy but at least I did not have to squeeze past him on the narrow track. Funnily I set out to do both of them last year from the A70 side. Once again coos got in the way. I was on one of the wooden bridges when a herd of cows were rampaging thr...

East Cairn Hill from Carlops.....Watch out for the coos

$matches[2] On this short trip to the eastern lands, I had a day off and opted to tick off East Cairn principally as it has been on my to-do list for years. It is the status of highest point in the City of Edinburgh district. Plenty of route options so I hummed and hawed and eventually decided on t...

An ideal quickie.....Spartleton

Spartleton actual.gpx The weather forecast was for the first good day for ages so I escaped for a morning and headed for Spartleton Hill. Described by Walkhighlands as a rounded dome in the Lammermuir Hills. It is surprising that so quickly can the city of Edinburgh be left behind. When I reached G...

Re: Changeable Wether

Glad I gave you some inspiration. I have not done so many reports on this site as I post everything on my own blog and was too lazy to keep copying them over. You have inspired me to start doing it again for some of my walks. If you get bored sometime, they are all on this link. The search option sh...

Remote Glas Bheinn.....The hill of the ticks

$matches[2] Feeling better today so decided on a bigger test. I was thinking about Quinag but not really in that shape so opted for its singular neighbour, Glas Bheinn. I knew this was a 6-hour ramble today, but the forecast was the best day of the trip so made use of it. Two options for this hill ...

Re: Changeable Wether

Hi pretty sure I spoke to you on the day not long after you came through the overgrown area near the start. An excellent little hill and on a good day like that there were great views. You were obviously unlucky with the shower as none earlier.

Re: Little egrets in August

These are great birds to see. Ayrshire now a hotspot. Almost guaranteed on the mudflats at Fairlie/Hunterston. Even regulars at the stinking rocks Barassie.
