Re: Beinn Sgulaird, a different route

Tried this route, day before yesterday. I found the ascent from the road into the Coire too steep and dangerous. Lots of slippery, craggy rock slabs. I chickened out about half way up as going was very slow and was running out of daylight to get back down. I agree with the grass burner!!!

Beinn nan Aighenan

This hill is quite remote and can be accessed from either the head of Loch Etive or from Victoria Bridge near Loch Tulla, Bridge of Orchy. DSC02502.JPG The route in from Glen Etive duplicates the routes on Ben Starav and Glas Bein Mhor and is quite a long hike too, so I decided to use the bike from ...

Re: munro tops

We've no plans to add the tops davy_boy. If we featured them in the same way as the other hill lists it would make correctly tagging a walk report with all the correct summits quite difficult. IDEA This issue occurred to me as well. The Walk Scotland site is excellent but a useful development would...

Re: Cameron's Viewpoint: The Wind Compromise

I simply want to remind everybody that our country, both Scotland and the UK, are currently highly dependent on energy sources in Russia and the Middle East. This is an obviously weak strategic position which makes us very vulnerable, Obviously any energy source which is local, is of value even if i...

Re: Walk search by pull down menu

Thanks for your response Paul. I didn't realise there was a difference between 'Walkighlands' routes and 'Others' routes. As I say there are numerous interesting (smallish) routes around here Dullatur/Kilsyth/Croy/Castlecary (I live locally). If you need a hand with anything, just let me know. 'Gus ...

Walk search by pull down menu

Found a walk on the Website for Croy Hill ( between Cumbernauld and Kilsyth , mainly Antonine Wall interest,) by using a Google search but it doesn't appear as listed in the Site search for Lanarkshire (which is where it is) or for Stirling or the Campsies (which are immediately adjacent) though I d...

Re: Hill Fitness

Like most of the correspondants, I find that all the jogging, cycling, ski-ing, swimming, gym work etc don't really work. They have some value but there is no substitute for doing it i.e. walking. It also occurred to me while reading the thread that if you have ever been out with a genuine Scottish ...

Re: Hi everybody

Hi Gus and welcome. Certainly there was lots of great weather about then. Unfortunately the link you posted just takes visitors to a sign-in screen for your website - which obviously only works for you! Why not have a go at adding your pics in the trip reports section? There's a prize of £40 of TIS...

Hi everybody

I just found your website - very good - I was out on Bauchaille Etive Mor last Friday, Oct 16th 2009 (exceptional weather - not a breath of wind on the summits) and got some good photos. Would you like me to share them. See <<link removed as required login>> (About 75 Munros completed - must get the...
