How fortunate are those of us that have this in our lives.

You are indeed. Enjoy them - in bad weather as well as good. They are always a treasure.

I appreciate this. Enjoy every moment you can with them.

Introducing............ Frank!

This will be a rather odd introduction. It is not me - I think I did my introduction when this site started. This is an introduction is to a great hill man who sadly passed a few weeks ago. His name was Frank and he was 95. An uncle of my wife, I knew Frank for many years. I knew him when I started ...

Re: Another Mystery Hill

Thanks, I'll have a look at the software. Hopefully it works for scans of old film photographs.

Re: Another Mystery Hill

It looks so beautiful, this view is one of the reasons why hiking is fun. Many thanks for the comment. It is a scan of an old photo taken in the early nineties. Hence the poor quality, but it is a good reminder for me of those great days. Sadly, I no longer manage to clamber up the Munros. But I do...

Re: Another Mystery Hill

Good grief! Two years on and this old thing comes back to life.

Glad you liked the view.

Another Mystery Hill

As I still work my way through my collection of unidentified hills that I have crossed in my life, I have another that I need help with. I originally thought this might be the Pirnmill hills that include Beinn Bharainn on Arran, but having checked some images online, that does not seem to be the cas...

Re: Mystery Tops and Locations - Part deux!

I am pretty sure now that Nos 9 and 10 are from either Sgairneach Mhor or Beiunn Udlamain to the Ben Alder hills. This is a view which seem to be very similar. https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/5/5d/Ben_Alder_from_Sgairneach_Mhor.jpg/1280px-Ben_Alder_from_Sgairneach_Mhor.jpg As is...

Re: Mystery Tops and Locations - Part deux!

No. 4 is Beinn an Dothaidh from Beinn Achaladair. Just looking at that photo at this very minute and wondered if it was taken on the same day as the Beinn a'Chreachain one. I thought that it may have been a similar view of Beinn a'Chreachain. But, I think you are right. I also think that No1 may be...

Re: Mystery Tops and Locations - Part deux!

That was fun, although I didn't recognise a single hill or view! So as others have pointed out, my first instinct that it would be around the Great Glen or further north, where I have shamefully yet to explore, proved to be correct! :D John, give this a try and put yourself on a few spots whe...

Re: Mystery Tops and Locations - Part deux!

Thanks, Malky. Looks like you are spot on about Beinn a'Chreachain. I'm not sure about the other 2 though. I was quite sure about the Mamores, but turns out I was wrong! I'm now fairly confident that no.8 is Ben Tee from Sron a' Choire Ghairbh. Have a flick through this report and you will spot the...

Re: Mystery Tops and Locations - Part deux!

The other no 6 might be top of Sgairneach Mhor too? D'oh! I messed the numbering up. Sorry about that. I can't actually remember how much snow was on the tops that day. But again you may be right. No 2 certainly looks like Nevis and I am sure that I have other photos taken on that trip of the north...
