Re: Anyone recognise this gear?

To Helen Webster. Thanks for the reply to that. I think that the folks should have taken the replies on the chin and been happy that folks on here take a keen interest on good behaviour when camping in the hills. We do not all practice what was found by them on this occasion. Could you possibly remo...

Re: Anyone recognise this gear?

I agree with you Wallace...definitely some criticism needed for the words used to accompany the images. Now this report via the Facebook has disappeared. We should be able to debate this type of vandalism and not to hide it all away. Were the images and report removed by the person finding the outra...

Re: BBC Alba Sunday 1955hrs

Thanks for the heads up for this on Alba. Not quite what I thought it was going to be. My I first thoughts were good on the youths taking on the Cuillin Ridge....they must have been going about in the hills for some time. However nonetheless it seems to be for them with no previous experiences in th...

Re: Hand held GP" 12 figure co-ordinates

The OS Maps that you can have loaded up on the phone will give both eight and the twelve digit Grid refs...just press on the feature. Seems to be more manageable to have the eight fig reference and the two letters within each 100 Kl. square rather that handling East six digits and North six digits. ...

Re: Maps not keeping up with the changes on the ground.

Hello... I did try contacting using the 'contact' thing on the website...no response. That was some time ago. Had a look this morning where there is a new website layout... Still no Kincraig or Kingussie on the map. Some words about work being undertaken in 2017. I think.that the money has run out fo...

Re: Maps not keeping up with the changes on the ground.

Hello Marty,.....Yes the WH maps is reasonably up to date and does include the alternatives as in the new Kincraig to Kingussie section now almost complete. I have taken the bike along in each direction recently and I find it easy to follow so long as you are aware that some of the signage is SW and...

Re: Questions on Aonach Eagach

I guess within your own Park....Kentallen just a few kilometres from Glencoe. :) Maybe more in tune with the current situation amongst the mountain fraternity if staying away from the higher hills had been observed... Or if a cycle had been used as transport. Never have quite understood these drivin...

Re: Ben More to Ben More: 50 years to compleation

Hello Walter.....It was just a thought when you said you were EUMC and that you left for Canada in 1972 that I connected up the Event possibly with yourself. In fact this Event was mentioned by me when replying on here recently to an enquiry about walking over the big Torridon summits in a day....I ...

Re: 50 years Ben More to Ben More compleation

Hello....that has been a great effort over the years to get around all of the High Hills :) Maybe you missed out, maybe already in Canada at that time, on the effort by your Club EUMC to have a member on each of the Scottish hills on the same day? I can recall, that at Easter time in 1972, when I we...

Re: Maps not keeping up with the changes on the ground.

Additionally to the original post....some images of the route from Kingussie through to Kincraig. It would appear that the Kingussie end of the route still carries the Badenoch Way information where later it changes to the new Speyside Way information signs at approximately NH 819018. From Kingussie...

Maps not keeping up with the changes on the ground.

Well it appears so with the extensions and changes to the Speyside Way route. Maybe it just that my maps and Memory map and the OS maps that I have on the phone are greatly out of date. The website for the route/map still shows Aviemore as the southern start or finish although since 2015 Kincraig ha...
