Re: Against all odds
We enjoyed our day out to Beinn Tharsuinn a couple of years ago.....see 'Welcome to Strathroy walkers and dumpers'. At that time of our visit the start from the parking area was like the local rubbish dump with all sorts of household stuff just stuffed into the vegetation and hollows prior to the lo...

Re: West Kip, East Kip, Scald Law Winter Walk
Where the Hills began for me and my friends when at school. Bus out to Carlops and then walk back to near to Hillend for a bus or two back home. Grand to see the hills plastered in snow.

Re: Snow..... on the small local hills.
Possibly the whitest blanket over the hills since 2010?....I recall the Alone on the great plateau from that time. Mel and friend did a wee tour from Glenmore over Cairngorm, A' Choinneach, Bynack More and with a finish up and over Meall a' Bhuachaille to get back to Glenmore. $matches[2] $matches[2...

Re: Lockdown Wrecking My Head
For Glen Feshie....best to go up the East side of the Glen and park-up at the parking area prior to Achlean..... Easy walk up to the area of the Bothy....look out for the sign to keep you clear of the washed-out area where the path no longer exists.

After lunch New Year walk.
Music from Hamburg ..a rebroadcast...and the traditional concert from the posh looking Hall in Vienna both with much of the Strauss family's output to entertain us....and more from Europe through the telephone from my wife's relatives in France. After lunch I set out from the Wildlife Park entrance ...

Re: Your coldest day?
Maybe after having stopped walking when the cold can really bite hard .....digging a snow hole, arranging a bivouac can be extremely cold times. Oddly enough like a previous poster I too experienced the 'diamond dust' in a refuge in the same area, with me it was on the raised sleeping platform in th...

Re: Ben Nevis & Meall an t-Suidhe
Not surprising that there were no cars at the Parking place for access to the path up to the Ben 'wild side'. :) At least you were out and tasting the weather and finding a safe place to cross the Allt a' Mhuilinn burn. The lady who replied and compared the path up to the Refuge with the GR20 appare...

Re: The late great Hamish MacInnes
A man with a large range of abilities. I still look up his Book of Classic Scottish Climbs ...an illustrated book from back in the seventies and also use for reference his Highland Walks book, from the eighties, of which there were around six? of these for the Highlands. The only one of these that I...

Re: Gaick pass and Leathad an Taobhain
Hello.... No problems with gates.....at the end of the public road where it gives way to the good estate road there is a gate, where if closed, walkers/bikers can use the side gate. I regularly arrive here from home on my old bike either to reach the paths further up the Glen or to connect to Corans...
