Re: Oh Danny Boy article

If there's enough of us then hillwalkers boots can cause huge damage too.. Then there's horses and their bloomin hooves.. I don't see DMc's exploits leading to a surge of bikers in the high places.. Most of us/them operate way below the skill level of Danny and wouldn't dream of it.. Incidentally, s...

Re: Re-post: An Aran round of 10 - 1, closed by bike

Super report

Being a Shropshire lad (exiled now) The Aran group has a very special place in my heart. I'd go so far as saying it's the best range in the whole of Wales.

Re: English Hewitts - A fitting finale

Have you considered getting serious about Scottish hills in particular the Munros once you get stuck I don't think you'll be able to stop! Chevin to Cuillin The Munros are on my radar but I'm as likely to work on Corbetts and County Tops this year..its the first time in ages where I haven't had a s...

Re: Permission to walk on the Warcop Ranges, please sir.

Super report which brought back many memories from my own Little Fell raid. I took one look at the malaise between there and Mickle Fell and stayed well away. Finding that aforementioned quad track and avoiding all the Peat bog. Why I didn't come back that way rather than dropping down to the Swarth...

Re: English Hewitts - A fitting finale

Thanks for the comments folks and as we have discussed before Pop, there's many a very enjoyable day up North. The single thing that struck me most with the tops away from the Cross Fell group was how quiet they were. That and the vast skies. Mickle Fell is a stunningly wild spot. As for South Wales...

English Hewitts - A fitting finale

Funny things hill lists aren't they. You find yourself traipsing into far flung corners of peat bog and wilderness for that satisfaction of getting one tick nearer to that completion day. I can't be the only one to have thought "what the heck am I doing here" on one of those days when the ...

A mighty mission around marvelous Mallerstang

Hello again folks. It has been some time since I last placed a report on W/H and as I have recently returned to the North of England to start visiting a few of my remaining Hewitts I thought it was time I shared my adventures with you. our_route.gpx It was probably the conversation through internet ...

Re: Calf Top, the new Hewitt

Another great report Pop, always a good read and well composed photos. I'm glad you got up there and you've confirmed what we both suspected that Calf Top would be a worthy outing. I will hopefully find myself up there by the end of the year. I've tried to make a habit of planning in any marginal to...

Re: Round Hill, Viewing Hill and a Burnhope Seat disaster

Nice report and I too would say you can claim Burnhope Seat. I'm tempted to take a shovel to the clod which is higher than the trig because for me the Trig feels like the top.
anyway, here's a pic of what you missed out on!!
