Re: Beinn a'Chochuill Beinn Eunaich snow cornice?

Did these two on Saturday. Followed the clockwise WH route. Crampons stayed in bag and only needed the axe on one occasion. Fairly benign conditions. There was cornicing but easily spotted and avoided, even in the clag that I experienced. Thanks oldrayne75. All sound pretty straightforward. Just ne...

Re: Glen Lyon Tops

Impressive time in current conditions  We did these hills (clockwise) yesterday. Took us best part of 8.5 hours. The first three hours of which was spent battling deep, soft snow and strong winds up Carn Gorm. Also, we could have done with your 4x4 when trying to get our cars out of the car pa...

Re: My 1st Bike n Hike - Ben Avon & Co

That looks like an epic day Backpacker. Well done on the first bike and hike. AnnieMacD - A mountain bike is going to be your best bet for the odd cycle in to a Munro. I've used the bike for Mount Keen, Carn a'Chlamain, Beinn Dearg (Blair Atholl) and Ben Lui - all great fun. They also come...

Re: Skiing Wi Nae Ski's on Ben Lui 4

Nice report and pics Mr Ash. We had a near identical experience to you on Easter Sunday. We also tackled the final section of Lui without winter kit - those foot holes came in handy! As you say, lesson learned.

Re: Skye Walking

Lots of good recommendations here. In addition you could consider one of MacLeod's Tables or the walk to Dunvegan Head if you are in the Dunvegan area at all. Routes for both on WH I think.

Sunny morning in Arrochar

After a few frustrating weeks waiting for the snow to shift it was time for the second hill-day of the year. Time was limited so a solo-trek to Arrochar to climb Narnain was the plan. Crossing the Forth Road Bridge I noticed the Pentlands had turned white again overnight so was unsure what I'd find ...

Re: Walk to corral beach

Walked to Coral Beach many times. Lots of people walk their dogs there. There are some sheep and cattle around though so you have to keep them on a lead. Beautiful spot.

Re: Which Skye Guide

I've also walked with Mike Lates of Skye Guides. Found him and his team to be excellent. You'll be fine on Bruach na Frithe and Blaven. Alasdair doesn't pose much difficulty via the slog up/down the great stone shoot. Can't vouch for the continuation to Mhich Choinnich though. Am Basteir and Sgurr n...
