Ruadh-stac Beag

If I'd left it an hour I'd have gotten a view and probably not used the "viable alternative" descent route

Still a great day out to blow off some cobwebs

Re: Sharing location with Mrs!

I find this obsession with tracking peoples' location 24/7 both completely weird and quite disturbing. Time was when folk went to the hills for a bit of personal freedom. Some of us still do. Now the surveillance society wants to follow us even there. Your not the only one, I don't mind sharing whe...

Re: A9

No sign of the next stage of dualling starting [Moy - Tomatin I believe] I thought the whole project was supposed to be completed by 2025, will be interesting to see if some stages get quietly dropped now the Greens are having a say in things. They've started the procurement process https://www.tra...

Re: An attempt at all tops on Liathach

I’ve been looking at this route to gain that top https://www.stevenfallon.co.uk/liathach.html# Meall Dearg is mentioned in passing in the alternative routes section but not on his main route. Does he provide a route? Think we just made it up as we went along. Whoops didn’t check the link, if you cl...

Quinag: 3 Corbetts

Walked myself, met another walker coming off Sail Ghorm heading down. Met another group on Sail Gharbh and then met a few walking up what was my descent path.

Lovely day, warm and cloud rolled in and out but mainly out

No wonder - it's a nice Glen but 3 Deargs I wont be on again - probably, maybe. :D

Bla Bheinn (Blaven) Car Park Closed

Just a heads up that the car park for Blaven is currently closed while they do some forestry work, there's nothing on the John Muir Trust website indicating this. Found out when I arrived on Thursday night. There's alternative parking at the head of the loch about half a mile further back.

Blaven Compleation

Walked with Darren, dawdled our way up and down the hill. Lovely day with a cracking view. Slip up on the ascent which had us clinging to a cliff ascending on scree and missing the path so up through a scree gully. Great day

Re: So how busy was it?

Saturday 24 April, Clachnaben car park plus all the surrounding lay-bys and parking spots were full by mid morning. By 6pm the car park was empty, so that might be a good time for anyone who wants a quiet walk. The Falls of Dess, which only has parking for about 3 cars, had 15 cars parked along the...
