Loch Ailsh to Incnadamph

Lovely walk, starts gently along the loch shore to Benmore Lodge then gently up the riverside to where it forks & the little footbridge. Handrail the left fork on the track. After around 4 miles the track becomes a faint path which leaves the riverside and starts to climb the hillside to your ri...

Knockdamph Bothy to Loch Ailsh

Easy stroll down to Oykel Bridge from Knockdamph Bothy, stopped for lunch at the hotel, staff & customers very pleasant but the menu wasn’t up to much but as expected the Cullen Skink was delicious. Easy walking continued up the estate track handrailing the pretty Oykel river on the left. The tra...

Ullapool to Knochdamf Bothy

Walked in from Ullapool, 4.30pm & joined the route at Loch an Daimh. Arrived at Knockdamf Bothy just as darkness fell, the trail is hard on the feet but not too strenuous. Knockdamf - Hoots mon, there’s a moose (or loads of them) loose aboot this hoose. Though one was going to run into my ear. H...

Braw day out.

Lucky to catch a dry day in this time of weekly storms. All the hard work is in the first 6-7 miles, steep climb up to the crags & pretty constantly up hill till just after Arivurichardich (the signposted short cut really doesn’t exist, luckily my traipse over the tussocks wasn’t too boggy) then...

Re: Scottish National Trail 2018

Really enjoying the SN Trail, I've reached Blair Atholl, looking forward to the next sections to Kingussie, I see there are a few river/ burn crossings, how can I check water levels before I set out ? Many thanks.

Glen Almond to Aberfeldy

Walked 5 or 6 miles up & over Glen Lochan out of Glen Almond, after wild camping over night, to get to the road at Glenquaich Lodge. The next 5 miles or so are mainly on tarmac (hate it ☹️) with a 1700ft slog up the road at the end, got chatting to a photographer from Aberfeldy who offered me a ...

Comrie & wild camp in Glen Almond

Excellent walk into the beautiful Glen Almond on one of the hottest days of the year, 25deg. Fair slog up to the coll from Comrie with the wild camping gear. The views are stunning, lots of bird life, insects (no midgies 😁) & the occasional mountain hare.

Drymen to Aberfoyle

Lovely stroll, unfortunately the first 4 miles are on tarmac, the rest of the route through the forest following the Loch Katrine - Glasgow water supply route was very nice. Fine views. Hares, Primroses & Peacock butterflies. Good beer in the Forth Hotel at the end the Buchanan Cabs back to Drym...

Pentland daunder

Another fine section walked on a lovely dry day. Well signposted, only complaint is the final 2-3 miles on tarmac into Balerno. North Esk Reservoir by the bird hide was a fab stop for lunch.

Riverside amble

Lovely gentle stroll along the banks of the Tweed. Towards Peebles the section where you are advised to go left and walk between the river and the water treatment works is not well used and so is full of nettles, if you continues on the cycle path you will shortly find yourself on the opposite side ...

Hot tramp to Traquair

Great day on the hills but with high temperature & no breeze the long slog up from Yair Bridge to the 3 Bretheren was hard. Firstly though, something needs to be done about signage leaving Galashiels, the most obvious SUW sign at the school points left - DON'T go that way, go right. Having skirt...
