Hammock

HI

I'm planning on doing the Great Glenn Way in late march, and have been thinking about using a hammock over just a tarp, any suggestions on a hammock and if there are enough places to set up a hammock along this route.

thanks

I have a trip planned for Late march next year, but I have to get the bus up to Inverness. Does anyone know of any lockers or secure storage areas were I could store some cloths and shoes, so that I can a clean set to travel home in and not my 5 day old walking gear?

Re: Mammut Boots

I have a pair of the Mammut Mercury Advanced GTX, and i find the fit quite tight after 10+ miles. Before that the feel fine. I spent an hour with a foot guy at Cotswolds and just tried boots on to see if we could find the problem i had, and we settled on a set a Scarpa's as they have the widest fitt...

SilTarp 2

I used this tarp a bit at the end of the summer and it served me well, it rained ever night, and although I never got wet i became very aware that I should never touch it from the inside. So before I go out again, I'm wondering if I should re-proof it with a nikwax product to help it, or would this ...

dehydrator

Some thing a bit different. I thinking of doing a bit of home dehydration, to see if I can save paying £5 a meal for the pre done stuff. I saw some guy saying he was dehydrating some great meals and portion sizes that would be better for a lad like me. Does any one do it them selves and how do you d...

Re: Charity tarp walk.

The mat I have is the alpkit Numo, I don't have a bivvy at home so it would be a cast of getting one just for the trip. I have managed to get my hands on the SilTarp 2 not the 1, so should be big enough to make it fully enclosed anyway.... right?

Charity tarp walk.

I'm doing a charity walk that includes a bit of wild camping with a tarp (Rab Sli-Tarp 1), we are going to be on camp-sites on the east coast so not really wild but still. Do I need a bivi as well as a tarp?

nikwax cotton proof

Has anyone tried this out yet? It looks like an awesome products and idea, but how well does it perform in the real world. Could this remove the need for waterproof trousers, and dare I say it jacket??

Re: Osprey Kestrel 68l Rucksack

I love my Kestrel, great bit of kit and swallowed every I needed for my 6 year old and me to go camping for 2 days with a small walk between sites. Not really used anything else apart from a Lowe Alpine crag attack 42. I got mine from go outdoors for a few quid over a ton.

Re: Banshee 200 going light.

Interestingly vango make just the footprint for this tent as well so I'm not the first person to think of this.... Would be interesting to find out what the weight difference between the inner and the footprint is.

Banshee 200 going light.

I have just done 2 nights camping with my 6 year old son, and I had a thought.

What if I don't use the inner part of the tent (Vango Banshee 200), so it's more light a tarp tent. Has any one tried this and did it work?
