Re: Cape Wrath Trail question

DSCF4904.jpg Not the best of camping spots but probably do-able, the shot was taken from the old bridge at Rhiconich last May so the vegetation will likely be the same for your trip. What about a couple of miles back up the glen, there are flatter areas by the lochside. By the Garbh Allt for instance

Re: Achilles Tendon

I snapped mine in May 2013, 5 days into a coast to coast attempt. It was 3 months with the plastic cast then another couple of months physio. I'm sure it was about the 6 months period I was given the ok to start doing some hills again, but advised to keep to the easier stuff to start with. I cant re...

Re: How is the river crossing from Shenavall to Fisherfield?

It was a doddle in May - just hoped over on the stones without any difficulty. No need for wet feet or boots off, or river-crossing-crocs It had been exceptionally dry though, so I was probably very lucky. What a difference a couple of weeks make. End of April it was a different story. The clip is ...

Re: Wild camping in Glen Affric and outside Morvich

Only thing with the loch is it is quite exposed to the elements. It does look a cracking spot though.
The bit we stopped at had higher ground around us so was a bit more sheltered

Re: Wild camping in Glen Affric and outside Morvich

For day one, push on past the car park for around a mile and a half. You will pass a cottage on the right hand side, a little further on you come to a burn, on the other side of it there is a nice bit of flat ground you can camp. We stopped there when doing the Affric Kintail Way last year (NH180225...

Re: Midges, ticks and other bitey things - 2015 season

Midges seem to be even worse that usual this year. Last September in the same area of the Cairngorms I had no problems, this year *"#*.

Re: How remote is Glen Doll..?

The single track road just seems to go on forever, it took me 6hrs to get to the Clova hotel from the campsite south of Kirriemuir. But then I was walking!

Re: Lycra under shorts for men...

Being a lifelong M&S fan, I've been happy with their ultra fit active range (polyester/elastane) - not sure it's still available but guess they'd have something similar - cheers :) M&S still do the synthetic boxers in their Autograph range, they are pretty comfortable. Primark does a simila...

Re: Skye Trail - Parking

Thanks, I did see the car park on google street view but was not sure as to whether there are any restrictions. Quite often there are issues regards overnight parking or time limits. The trips been put back a couple of weeks due to issues at work. looking at the weather forecast that's probably for ...

Skye Trail - Parking

I'm planning (weather permitting) on doing the Skye Trail, starting this Saturday through to the end of next week. I'm looking to drive up early morning and park the car in Broadford before catching a bus/buses to get me to the start of the walk. Does anyone know if there is a car park where I can l...
