Re: Lantau Peak ascent, Lantau Island, Hong Kong, China

It is a great place and perfect for walking in certain months. November is great, just right temperature wise to enjoy the walking. I was shocked at how popular heading into the hills is in China. They love it too which was good to see.
I am hoping to head back to this area and explore more.

Lantau Peak ascent, Lantau Island, Hong Kong, China

This walk begins at Ngong Ping which can be reached by bus from various locations or the brilliant Ngong Ping 360 cable car from Tung Chung. After walking past Po Lin Monastery the signs point the way for a very steep but well maintained climb. After a ridge is reached which gave some stunning views...

Silvermine waterfall and cave from Mui Wo, Lantau Island, HK

A short and popular walk from the ferry port of Mui Wo on Lantau Island, Hong Kong. I began this walk from my base The Silvermine Beach Resort. A short walk and you cut inland from the stunning beach to walk through more traditional living areas and small farms. The path is well constructed and well...

South Thoresby, Lincolnshire

A nice figure 8 walk around the village of South Thoresby in Lincolnshire. I decided to take my little one along in a carrier which he loved. The first part of the walk goes through marshland so there are a lot of bridges and walk ways to negotiate. All in all an enjoyable little walk. our_route.gpx...

In the footsteps of Roman Legions (Fulletby, Lincolnshire).

I originally planned to start this walk in Fulletby but changed my plan due to no good parking area's in that village. Instead opting for Belchford. The first part of this walk follows the Viking Way to Fulletby. The walk heads through the village picking up a footpath on the East side of Fulletby f...

Willingham Woods wander, Lincolnshire England.

I love a walk in the woods and Willingham Woods is rather a sizable working woodland near to Market Rasen in Lincolnshire. It is a popular stop off for people traveling to the East coast or a place to head in itself. Weekends are usually very busy especially in summer with families, walkers and moto...

It is even better when there onsen, it is harsh though and I can only imagine how tough this would be in summer.

Laceby walk revisited, Lincolnshire England.

I had done this walk the previous year in the summer but didn't take many photo's. The reasons for doing this on this particular day was to give my boots a workout to see if I had managed to fix them. They were damaged from desert walking in Nevada. The other reason is because it is on my doorstep. ...

Re: Charleston Peak ascent, Nevada, USA

It was a good route with no real difficulties gaffr.
You are most probably right, summer is hot up here and I seem to recall warnings regarding forest fires.

Charleston Peak ascent, Nevada, USA

The weather reports on the Monday suggested that things were going to take a turn for the worse on Mount Charleston. Looking out of the hotel window in the morning in Las Vegas suggested, it was going to be yet another lovely day. I could have done this walk on the Sunday but the need to visit anoth...
