Re: What is this? Furry, 4 legs, on the top of a munro, 2 of

Oh how nice, thank you for the identification and background. I totally believe you, but would have never thought of it because they had such a low profile while running. I've probably never seen a fox running this fast before. Saw a male Ptarmigan on the same mountain, a vole living under Peters ro...

What is this? Furry, 4 legs, on the top of a munro, 2 of em

Saw two furry four legged animal playing some 30 metres below the summit of a Munro last Thursday. Quite confused, since everything was covered by ice/snow and no obvious source of food available. They just kept chasing each other around in the sun. Sadly kept their distance from me. Any idea what I...

Re: Been walking? No trip report but want to share some Phot

Wondering what the views from An Teallach were like this fine Sunday? We met or saw no one that day - where was everyone (considering the good forecast)? https://i.imgur.com/zbBU96k.jpg (sorry about the phone cam quality, will have a look at our actual cameras pictures and maybe post 1-2 more)

Re: Gales, wilderness, bothies and a mad woman in the Cairng

Greetings from the three students, we're all back home now and waited for a written complaint about the Hutchinson sauna :D (Sorry about the heat though, we underestimated the power of our stone coal a bit) What a great day it was, we enjoyed some nice views from the summit of Ben Macdui around 1pm ...

Re: Been walking? No trip report but want to share some Phot

Just two pics I took around Hutchinsons Memorial Hut this weekend. We were playing cards and celebrating a great day out when a (#WowSoFit #IShouldWorkOut) woman showed up and decided to pitch her tent outside (must have smelled bad in there  ). I took a few pics of the tent getting hit by the...

Re: route planner GPX

Does this change, somehow, affect the GPS Planner? I seem to be unable to (properly) zoom into the OS maps. The map just does not load the tiles. Tried Chrome and Internet Explorer for a few days and I feel like I'm out of options. Not a complaint, just a question/information. Was a great tool so fa...

Re: Aviemore to Linn of Dee via Cairngorm and Ben Macdui

Thanks for the informative report and good to hear you're fine. It's amazing how much power you need to walk through snow deeper than like ~10cm and I'm always ever so thankful if I can use someone elses tracks to avoid most of that. I wish you better luck and weather for the walks you've got planne...

21 Nov - 24 Nov Glasgow to Braemar & back

I'm going to visit some of the Cairngorms hills and bothys with my old man. If someone without a car needs a lift you're invited to take a seat in our (most likely) Skoda Octavia. Departure Glasgow Thursday ~3pm, departure Braemar Sunday ~6-7am. I'd invite you to tag along (route not fixed yet, we h...

Re: Lost North Face VE25 Tent @ Ben Nevis

Update: Did one of your party have a sore throat? I came upon a couple of 2litre, green bottles of water (still full) and a strip of "Dobendan Strepsils" throat lozenges which I note were manufactured in Germany. No sign of the tent though, i'm afraid, not even any broken poles. :? There ...

Re: Lost North Face VE25 Tent @ Ben Nevis

Shame on you leaving that debris for someone else to carry back down the hill. On the other hand a good example of what to do in extreme conditions when the sh*t hits the fan. Small price to pay to walk away....we'll send you the bill... You are right. And I am not lying when I tell ...

Lost North Face VE25 Tent @ Ben Nevis

Well, "lost" is not the correct word. We left a badly damaged The North Face VE25 tent on ben Nevis. We pitched it right here, next to Lochan Meall an t-Suidhe (east side). http://shibbe.com/share/DSC00430.JPG Had very bad conditions on that day and only pitched our tent to get in the slee...

Hello and thank you!

Business Computing Student currently living in Berlin saying hi. I've spent many holidays in the Swiss/Austrian alps and fell in love with the Highlands almost 3 years ago. I am visiting them again in two weeks and got tons of information from the walk descriptions and user reports on this site. Tha...
