Re: Hills with wild swimming

Hi NellLance,
There are many great places to swim in the Highlands. Almost too many to mention here! Read my contributions on this website about, among others, Loch Morar, Loch Lochy, Loch Awe, Loch Ossian, Loch Cluanie, Loch Lubnaig, Ganavan Sands, Camusdarach Beach.

Glen Shiel North Ridge from Glen Shiel (A87)

Hi folks,

My plan is to do the entire North Ridge from Glen Shiel (A87). Cluanie Inn will be the end point. In May 2017 I started the South Ridge this way and liked it. Does anyone have experience with the route via Achnagart Farm? Many thanks in advance for the suggestions.

Re: Anutha day, an Utha Glenfinnan Corbett

Hi colleague Graeme, Thank you for your amazing walk report. Being a teacher has advantages, even in the Netherlands. Sgurr an Utha is a versatile wee hill. It is also on my to-do list. If I get the chance to go back to Scotland, I'd like to combine this Corbett with the hidden Loch Beoraid. C...

Re: Meall na Teanga from Loch Arkaig

DSCN4412.JPG DSCN4417.JPG DSCN4418.JPG Hi Smalltounboy, Thank you for your exciting contribution. In 2019, the same thing happened to me that happened to you. During my descent towards Clunes, I was looking for the forestry track, but could not find it. The only option was to climb down like a monk...

Re: Malky gets eaten by his own hair on Stac Gorm!

Hi Jackie I always enjoy your stories and am a bit jealous that you are able to visit the hills so often. I miss Scotland, the hills and the lochs. Hopefully, 2022 will be a better year, in which I can travel from the Netherlands to the Highlands without difficulties. Keep hiking and take beautiful ...

Re: Solo Wildcamping in remote Mountains,41 km in the Wilder

Hi Petr,

What a nice walk! For now, I will not be able to enjoy hiking or swimming in the Highlands. I'll catch up with all that I have missed in Scotland, when the Coronavirus is past and it is safe to go again. By the way, I like your hip flask.

Re: The hillswimmer. In search of a winter swimming paradise

Opened this hoping you might be the guy we met in Bendronaig Bothy once who had completed the Munros and whose next project was to swim all the mountain lochans. We thought there must be many thousand, some merely puddles, but he reassured us that they had to be named on the O/S. However, we felt w...

The hillswimmer. In search of a winter swimming paradise

Recently, I have only posted few reports on the Walkhighlands forum. There are so many spectacular and beautiful reports of other members. In comparison to those, my reports do not seem very exciting. However, this Corona pandemic has made me change my view on this point. At the moment, it is uncert...
