Re: Scarpa R-Evo Pro - Anyone have any experience of these..

Thanks for the responses both. Good to hear your experiences of the boots Decal. I'm wearing them about the house at the moment - still trying to work out if it's too tight on my rig heel or if it's just the sock fit wrapping around it........ Did your boots loosen off any after a few walks? I didn...

Re: Scarpa R-Evo Pro - Anyone have any experience of these..

Hi all, Does anyone have the r-evo pro's and, if so, what is your opinion on them? I can see a few online reviews for the r-evo's but the pro version has less content currently. I'm on the hunt for a pair of boots suitable for year round use on a mixture of Munro and lower level walks. Ideally also...

Re: The weekend

Just go for it. I did it in a storm of wind and rain and it didn't do me any harm... Would have been nice to see the views though. Not great advice! This was my attitude until I got a real scare and was forced to employ the services of mountain rescue. My post accident attitude has changed greatly....

Re: Walking poles on planes?

It's a non starter I'm afraid.

I've never walked in Cuba but been flying to European destinations for the past few years and you won't get them through security.

Buy a pair of z-poles, stick them in your bag and forget about it.

I may be wrong but I think the one on the left with "go up" on it is the more recent.

Re: Outdoor Clothing Brands

I concur with regards to adding Patagonia to the top of the list and I'll add Fjallraven into the same bracket (especially on the trouser front!)

Re: Outdoor Clothing Brands

I'd probably have to put quite a bit of thought to this and certainly introduce a few brands not included on the OPs list however I would suggest that Lowe Alpine and Marmot may want to drop down a grade and Montane, Paramo and North Face (Summit Series) would be promoted.

Re: Recovery...

I would imagine, if you're not used to walking then it's probably as your father suggested. 9 days is a long time for the route so it's likely to be the stiffening up, it should go after a few days.

Conditions on the South Glen Shiel Ridge

I'm planning to head up to do the South Glen Shiel Ridge on Saturday. Clearly Mother Nature has once again taken a keen interest in my plans and it seems that the forecast isn't very good at all with mist and poor visibility prevalent! That aside, I was wondering if anybody has been up there recentl...

Re: Boots (new and failed)

My Mammut monolith B2 failed after 4 munros and 22 miles. % weeks later I've been offered a full refund from Go outdoors. Really really disappointed in Go and Mammut. I'll be making a point of not taking my business there again. I don't really understand your point here. It sounds to me that Go Out...

Re: Walking Boots - am I over thinking things?

Hi folks, Just back in from gooutdoors and thought I'd update the thread. Tried on quite a few pairs and the two that stuck out were the "Berghaus Explorer Trek Plus GTX Men's Walking Boots" and "North Ridge Men's Tower eVent® Waterproof Walking Boots" Just need to decide if I p...

I wear Oakley Radar Locks and change the lenses to suit the conditions. I also have a good pair of Columbia polarized which are my 2nd division choice!

I think eye protection is something I'm happy to spend money on.

Re: What do you actually do with your handheld GPS?

I have a Garmin Dakota 10 and use it a lot, I generally have the route downloaded onto it from Walkhighlands and may refer to that when I'm out and about. The biggest thing for me is that I like to upload all my tracks to the Garmin Basecamp, this records all my stats and is a really quick and easy ...
