Great Day on two Beinns

Really enjoyed our day bagging both Beinn Dorain and Beinn An Dothaidh. Despite some bad leg cramp near the top of Dorain, managed to get it finished :D

Had the GoPro with me, so decided to vlog the walk, rather than write a blog. Enjoy!

Snow?

Hey folks, Happy New Year everyone. Just wondering if anyone has been up Glen Coe/Bridge of Orchy-ish way this week and has seen if there's much (or any?) snow around? Was hoping to attempt Creise and Meall a Bhuiridh tomorrow, forecast seems to be pretty good, just wondering about the current condi...

Re: Glenshee 6

Anyone done it around this time of year and had problems with stalking?

Glenshee 6

Hi All, Looking for a bit of advice for people that have completed the Glenshee 6. Planning on following the Steven Fallon route for the Glenshee 9 (excluding The Cairnwell, Carn Aosda and Carn A'Gheoidh). Just wondering what's the most straightforward way to complete the loop, aiming for Carn an Tu...

Ben More & Stob Binnein

I had fancied these two for quite some time but had been putting them off after hearing the word 'hellish' used multiple times to describe the ascent! However I really wanted these two in the bag and the forecast looked good. We parked up at the roadside and set off around 9.20am with the sun alread...

A Braw Day on Ben Challum

Wasn't really too sure what to expect from this one. Had some plans in the evening so couldn't have too long a day on the hills - opted for Challum and wasn't disappointed. Arrived at the A82 layby at around 8.30am to find only two other cars. Boots on (and gaiters - heard this one could be boggy) w...

Ben Venue

After sore legs completing the Glen Lyon horseshoe the week before, decided to take it slightly easier and focus on a Graham this week - had been fancying Ben Venue for a while so happy to finally give it a crack. After parking up at the Ben Venue car park (luckily the ticket machine for the car par...

Glen Lyon Big 4

After eyeing up this walk during deer stalking season last year, I was keen to get going on it the first chance I got. Free Sunday, weather looking good, we set off from the small car park at Invervar at around 11am (slightly later than planned) and made our way up through the forest. thumb_IMG_3861...

Schiehallion

After getting my car stuck on Schiehallion road in February (which knackered any chances of completing the walk this day), I was keen to get back up and complete this hill as soon as I could. Found what looked to be the one dry window of the weekend and set off arriving at the carpark to begin walki...

Ben A'An

After walking Ben Chonzie the day before and waking up to find we had somehow managed two days of cracking weather this weekend, we wanted to head out for a quick climb up this favourite where we knew we'd get some cracking views. Although the normal route up is still technically closed, both the Be...

Sunny Ben Chonzie

After a failed attempt to climb this one earlier in the year (missed the correct cut-off from the path and ended up on the wrong hill with snow setting in) I was keen to get this one bagged as my first munro of the year. Setting off from the (busy) car park around 10.30am with blue skies, it looked ...

Winter Walking Advice

Hey folks, Looking for some advice. I'm really keen to get out on the hills this weekend but I'm fairly inexperienced in winter walking and the forecast on most of the munros seems to be snow. I just wondered what sort of problems I would get into if I opted for one of the 'easier' hills such as Sch...

Buachaille Etive Mor

our_route.gpx Buachaille Etive Mor was 'the one' for me for a long time. The first sight when driving into the Glen with such an iconic shape, I'd also stared across the glen at it from Bachaille Etive Beag a year before. I couldn't wait to finally start the climb. We picked a sunny day in October ...

Munro Classification

Hey guys, Bit of a basic question here but bear with me. I was wondering about the classification of Munros. I climbed Buachaille Etive Mor this week (superb fun) but I'm confused as to why Stob Dearg (1022ft) and Stob Na Broige (956ft) are classified as Munros, but the other peaks Stob Na Doire (10...
