Re: Crampons and Anti-Balling plates

Ive used Kahtoola Steel crampons for 3 or 4 years now, and my anti-balling pkates were cut from an ice cream carton in their first season. The forward part uses the ice cream plastic, held on eoth tiny tie-wraps through hole-puncged holes, and the heel just has s coupke of turns of duct tape. Theyve...

Lost : GPS on Meall Odhar Glen Shee 23/3/14

Something odd about GPSs getting themselves lost :  Old style Blue-bodied Monochrome Garmin Etrex Legend GPS in a black Garmin belt clip pouch. Walking up the Meall Odhar track to Glas Maol (Glen Shee) on Saturday 23rd March, found I didn't have it at the top, but couldn't find it on retracing...

Re: Gear review: walking poles

I'm a late convert to poles, and started of using one rather two. But a Tesco Sale a few years ago had their cheapies marked down to £2 a pair so I tried them. Now I'm an advocate. One is a stick, two is a game changer. In summer I find they help me walk faster along approach roads, just by giving a...

Nice system :)
First time I've come across it - I thought I had a problem at my end.

Should PMs stay in Outbox when you've sent them?

Curious,
I sent a PM last night (or at least I think I did), but it doesn't show up in my sent box but stays in the Outbox. The text on the PM now says 'sent by'... with a timestamp.

Why wouldn't it have moved to the sent box?

Cheers,
Danny

Breezy thaw on Drumochter 4

our_route.gpx The forecast was a bit iffy… “Expect heavy snow showers above 600m, with 20-25mph wind through the morning, with risk of thunder, giving way to 50mph winds and persistent snow at all levels in the afternoon. Temperatures -1C at 900m.” Still, I could take it one hill at a time without ...
