Re: Another trip to Comrie

 You guys even packed up and drove off just ahead of me, impressive! What I lack in speed on the hills, I make up driving! I think it’s you I overtook not long after we both turned onto the A84. See you in 3 years on another hill round about Balquhidder!

Re: Another trip to Comrie

Ah it was great to meet you both on-off Creag Mhor. You really motored up and back down. I saw you at the gate after I’d been rooting around for my reading glasses (grrrr, another pair lost). It was a much better day than forecast although it was really blowy and I’m glad I wasn’t on a Munro summit!

FOUND: Hat and gloves

In a bright orange plastic bag, a blue woollen hat and leather Marmot gloves, coming down from the Corbett Meallach Mhor (Glen Tromie) yesterday Sunday 10th May. Do these items belong to the man with a dog whose tracks we saw on the way back toward Croidh La? Perhaps your car was the one parked just...

LOST: ICE AXE

I lost my ice axe on the western slopes of Sgor Gaoith today 8th May, not sure where because I was in a blizzard and struggling to stay upright (didn’t make it to the summit, not wise). I think I still had it at the large stone at 840m on the way up and then we struck SE towards the plateau just sou...

Re: The Steepest Mountain in Scotland! ;)

I almost said - Beinn Sgritheall isn't steep, but now I vaguely remember the scree just up from the col! I was in cloud by then and perhaps my left leg was giving me gip. But it was one of my best days out. I lingered on the summit for ages hoping to get a view and eventually gave up. Then 5 minutes...

Happy Benvane 2019!

Here I am again, new year and new resolution to post to Walkhighlands more often than I did in 2018! My boyfriend being laid low by this coughing ailment that seems to have spread like wildfire and caused us to cancel our Hogmanay celebrations, I decided to console myself with a wee hillwalk to get ...

Re: Spectacular Torridon: summit camp & victory over the Eng

Fab trip. It was a wee bit more windy on the summit of Stob Coire Sgreamhach! The two hills you wondered about are A'Mhaighdean and Beinn Tarsuinn I reckon. Slioch looks great from where you were. So does Beinn Alligin and the Horns. Brilliant!

Sron na Laraig and Stob Coire Sgreamhach

I should have written this for International Women's Day but I confess I didn't get my act together on time. I was probably multi-tasking and that was one task more than I could handle! I joined 4 other women from the Ladies Scottish Climbing Club for a wee jaunt up Sron na Laraig. I was the least e...

Re: Stuc a'Chroin from Beinn Each: Winter with all the trimm

Great report! You certainly hit the jackpot with the weather. I did this in similar conditions a couple of years back and it was hard work then too. After several tries, I've yet to find a good way of returning from SaC: there doesn't seem top be a path anywhere on that side of the hill and...

Stuc a'Chroin from Beinn Each: Winter with all the trimmings

On a cold, crisp morning I set off slightly later than scheduled to fulfil a wish – to get a view from the summit of Stuc a’Chroin. The forecast was for clear, sunny, calm conditions and this was my chance. I didn’t want to do too much driving so I elected to go via Beinn Each. What I saved in petro...
