August 2014 - Cir Mhor, should I have a go?

This year's trip to Scotland I decided to visit new places instead of going straight up above Fort Williams into Wester Ross or Assynt. So I a made a little detour using CalMac Hopscotch n°16 & 18 (Ardrossan-Arran-Kintyre-Islay-Colonsay-Oban) with a quick detour to Jura. Thanks to the weather I ...

Re: Always Sunny on Suilven

Looks like a very nice day out! Any more pics of the scrambly bits toward Meall Meadhonach? Video is ace too (loved the music).

Re: First time to Scotland

Hi, for short walks on (or not far off) your way I would suggest (obviously there are a lot more but I only mention ones I've done): Grey Mare's tail near Moffat: http://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/galloway/grey-mares-tail.shtml Ben A'an (if wether is with you get cracking views over Loch Katerine): htt...

Re: The Quiraing to the Storr

Nice report, I did the Quiraing a few weeks back for the first time and really enjoyed it! I also did the Storr but that was 6 years ago... need to do it again ASAP! I do love the way it looks from the South (in fact exactly like your last picture) in fact I keep seeing a rocky rhino. Oh and I'll be...

Heaval

Last year, on a 2 weeks trip including the Outer Hebrides and then Assynt and Wester Ross I discovered Barra. I got my first look at those white sandy beaches I kept seeing pictures of. It was quite a shock back then mostly the emptiness of the aforementioned beaches. So I walked around a bit, went ...

Re: Sheabhal (almost)...

Nice report, such a shame about the shy top! But as you said you don't need to be at the top to get the views. I went there 2 weeks ago and got lucky to get a clear top, a nice place to seat. I like the simplicity of the baggage reclaim and obviously the sunset is amazing

A very nice walk through the Quiraing

It's been a long time since I came to Skye. In fact I last came in 2008 when I walked to the Old Man of Storr and went to Elgol, Glen Brittle. I remembered it as a nice place but I became later more interested by the area of Assynt. So when going through the possible walks for the few days I would s...

Visit to Rubha Hunish ... twice

Hi, So, I was in Scotland for 10 days (with roughly 2 days of driving from and back to Leeds Airport) ending this Tuesday. I first went to Barra and The Uists and then took the ferry from Lochmaddy to Uig arriving at around 6pm on Skye. I more or less went directly to Kilmaluag from there. The car p...

Re: Shaggy Dog Story

Nice weather, nice views and good companions, what else do you need.!I met one last year on Vatersay, she stayed with me on beach while I had a swim and I gave her a wee drink before I had to leave. I think I saw her last week too but I was driving and didn't get the chance to stop and say hello! GO...

Re: Puffin along at a Fair Isle pace

Seems like a very nice walk. Your pictures of the Puffins are awesome. I haven't had a chance to see any yet but it's good to know that they seem inquisitive as opposed to Oyster catchers which I do find nice birds but are bloody shy and with good eyesight!
