Re: Sgurr nan Gillean - The Return!

Well done you Jimmy. Braver than you think. But we were certainly blessed with outstanding weather and views to die for.

You only have a few more on Skye left to finish 2021 will be a better year for sure.

Great report and thanks for your company, as always.

Re: Gaelic pronunciation

I use a very hand app called, "Munro bagging". There are two of them, but the one with the speaker on, pronounces them in perfect Gaelic for me

Re: An Sgarsoch and Carn an Fhidhleir

Tom282 is spot on you will need a decent enough bike, but it is a long old day and although the track is rough, it'll knock a good bit of time from your day. Dumped bike at the ruin and managed over the river no bother. Pick a good day you will be very exposed if it is poor weather.

Re: Creag Meagaidh trio plus 2, 12th June

I done these 5 last summer and took my bike but thought I would chance my arm at the start and caught a lift from a friendly forestry worker, always better when you smell nice at the outset!!! I have only hitched 3 times and have always got lucky.......

Re: View ranger

First things first Laura stick with Viewranger it is fantastic when you get to grips with it. I had issues initially at the outset simply because my password at the time had a "/" in it. I normally just download the gpx files from Walkhighlands, save them then press synchronise on my phone...

Re: Conditions on the South Glen Shiel Ridge

Hi there just spent that last two there and completed the first five north of the A87, only snow in gullies and north facing slopes I never crossed any really but the cornices helped me out today in the clag. I did not use or need an axe or crampons and you are straight over the road, but I can't co...

Re: River crossings on Beinn Mhannach approach

Don't cross it early on you'll only do it a few times again. Keep to the right hand side all the way and there is s bridge at the very end just before you ascend the hill. A bike would be useful if you have one too.

Re: Conquering the demons in Glen Lochay

Well done guys I enjoyed your report and done these 2 a few days later so I am just starting my own report, a great set of hills this time of year and thankfully no bogs at all. I took a different way back from you. Again congrats on a tough day out.

Re: The Inevitable Plans for 2016 Thread

Done well in 2015 and hope to clear (200) and to complete Skye too, picking off some of the remote loners, having done over 70 last year, I will have less big days out and try and nail the hard ones. A little bit of camping and making good use of the bike like last year. Certainly hoping for a bette...

Re: Winter Munros for beginners

Some good advice already posted, but the only way to get experience is get yourself out on the hills, be prepared and above all pay particular attention to the weather and have the good sense to turn back when you should, but also know to persevere and take yourself out of your comfort zone. One so ...
