Giants Causeway

A working trip to Belfast but squeezing in a rainy visit to the famous landmark the day before - walking in from Portballintrae and around Runkerry Head to make more of a walk of it. Probably better appreciated in nicer weather but pleasant all the same. Would appreciate a longer walk, in better wea...

Grit Fell

$matches[2] More rubbish weather at weekend so more looking for a quick window on the local hills - which Sunday afternoon provided. Lot's of flooding all over - including eliminating my usual ascent route completely - but surprisingly no boggier than usual on the crossing between Clougha and Grit ...

Double Parlick and Fairsnape/Longridge Fell

The recent storms are making it very hard to get some quality time on the hills. So this was another sneak out on a Monday afternoon on the local hills on a very windy (but at least bright) day. Firstly Double Parlick and Fairsnape - always good walking, $matches[2] $matches[2] Then Longridge Fell f...

Hazelhurst and Bleasdale/Nicky Nook

Working Saturday morning and had absolutely no plans to brave Storm Ciara on the Sunday so grabbed a quick couple of local solo walks on Saturday afternoon. Very windy but bright enough to be pleasant. Firstly Bleasdale and Hazelhurst Fell. $matches[2] Storm C (1).JPG Then just down the road a short...

Whitbarrow

Storm force winds and rain forecast for Saturday but there did appear to some brighter weather near Grange over Sands so a walk near there (on much lower, woodland heights) seemed sensible. Whitbarrow is really nice and the return via Yewbarrow makes a good loop. Mega windy on top so glad not to be ...

Re: Benidorm area hikes - Part 1 (Puig Campana, Penyal d'Ifa

Thanks for sharing this. I've stayed at the hotel you mentioned in Benidorm and agree that it is extremely well priced and perfect for this kind of thing. I've always wanted to climb Puig Campana but the kinds of holiday I've been on to Benidorm haven't exactly lent themselves to it. Now as I get ol...

Lot's of low cloud and wind forecast for the weekend so managed to get out for a few hours locally on Friday afternoon.

Plenty of mist here mind but at least light winds.

Passes and valleys (and 2 hills)

$matches[2] I've been looking at longer routes I could possibly do in winter when the weather doesn't allow going very high and after someone told me about a passes and valley route they did I was keen to do something similar. We've had some very windy weather again recently and with a Friday off I...

After a nice night in the Bower House Inn we woke to a grotty morning so just decided on Green Crag.

More ascent than you'd expect on this one with the terrain and quite wet underfoot.

The Screes, Burnmoor and Miterdale

$matches[2] We were staying more or less at the foot of Miterdale on the Friday so it seemed a good idea to have a walk through there and up to the screes before dropping down to Burnmoor Tarn and back through Miterdale. Interesting and new walking for me with a beautiful start. Maybe not the best ...

Ingleborough from Clapham

Post Christmas walk with Wendy and last of 2019.

Windy on tops but dry if cloudy.

A more relaxed year on the fells with injury taking it's toll through a bad knee for the most part of the year and a broken foot in the summer.
