High above Rydal and Grasmere

New_Route (32).gpx Working in Windermere until 1pm so a great chance to go for a walk. The weather wasn't playing ball though with high winds and rain so opted to stay relatively low. Luckily for me the rain ceased after 30minutes and never came again until I was back at the car so I opted to add S...

Winter Hill and the West Pennines

New_Route (10).gpx Open full screen  NB: Walkhighlands is not responsible for the accuracy of gpx files in users posts

Windy but dry walk and braved shorts for the first time.

The slabs from Great Hill to Winter Hill are slowly losing the battle with the excessive water.

Muddy.

Breidden Hills/ Stiperstones

Two walks on my way up to Worcester. Was going to hit Snowdonia but the forecast suggested strong winds and heavy rain so these smaller hills seemed a better bet. Firstly the Breidden group of hills - steep little wooded hills with some very muddy going at times. New_Route (27).gpx 1 MYG.jpg 2 MYG s...

Hog Lowe Pike and Musbury Heights/Rushy Hill

A two parter in the West Pennines after working in East Lancashire. Firstly Hog Lowe Pike and Musbury Heights from Calf Hey Reservoir. I really wanted to head round to Musbury Torr but the car park had a sign up saying the barrier would close at 4.30pm so I couldn't risk it - it's a good area though...

River Lune, Lancaster and Williamson Park

New_Route (25).gpx A walk I have had my eye on for some time. Around Lancaster and then up to the Ashton Memorial on Williamson Park - using large parts of the Lancashire Coastal Way, Lune Valley Ramble and Lancaster Canal to make a longer walk. Interesting parts throughout but maybe too many tarma...

Blencathra (Gategill Fell)

New_Route (27).gpx Working the morning in Penrith but a great afternoon for a first Blencathra of the year. Steeply up the quiet Gategill Fell and then down gradually via Blease Fell. Much snow melt (just the odd patch) but rocks a bit greasy. 1 (1).jpg 1 (2).jpg 1 (3).jpg 1 (4).jpg 1 (5).jpg 1 (6)...

Much nicer day for another local walk - always glad to be relatively close to some hills in January.

Nice viewpoints but plenty of tarmac. Wet and muddy fields.

Longridge Fell, Hurst Green and Stonyhurst

New_Route (25).gpx A dry but very windy afternoon walk from Hurst Green. Up Longridge Fell via a couple of foothills and back through the plantations, alongside the River Hodder and finally the grounds of Stonyhurst College as the sun set. Muddy in stretches - the path through the woods by the Hodd...

Quad Nook

New_Route (23).gpx Morning walk before work. Once again I didn't want to risk anywhere untreated so early in the morning so Scorton it was again. I'd found out earlier in the month that Holme Wood was closed so decided that if it was still closed, I was going to do several ascents of Nicky Nook fro...
