Re: Shaggy Ink Cap

Yes and very tasty too as long as they haven't started to turn. Lightly fry and mix with scrambled egg.

Re: SMC Corbetts and Other Hills book

On your other point the SMC contribute nothing to my hill walking, I rely on Mountaineeting Scotland and Walk Higjlands for all my information. SMC is for climbers not hillealkers. Look in the inside cover or thereabouts , it tells you where the profits go. Then come back to the group and tell ever...

Re: Cowal way southbound which train station to start from?

The website is wrong. However you’d not catch me walking along that stretch of the a82, it’s bad enough driving it.

More importantly are you really using google maps to navigate? A quick look at the OS map would have told you all you need to know.

Re: Càrn Loch nan Amhaichean. Mustn't grumble.

You could have done Wyvis from the south, mind you the hill you need to cycle up would probably have finished you!

Re: An attempt at all tops on Liathach

I’ve been looking at this route to gain that top https://www.stevenfallon.co.uk/liathach.html# Meall Dearg is mentioned in passing in the alternative routes section but not on his main route. Does he provide a route? Think we just made it up as we went along. Whoops didn’t check the link, if you cl...

Re: An attempt at all tops on Liathach

Did that top from coire na caime after walking in from the Beinn eighe parking. There’s a few ways to gain the ridge from there, we chose a grassy looking ramp(it was okish) and then traversed the pinnacles onto the top(approx grade 3 scramble bit a bit loose) And then back along the main ridge to i...

Re: Wild camp Rothiemurkus?

It would mean a different approach, but if you take the path towards Loch Eanaich and camp somewhere at or before the fork at NH924019, you'd be a little higher and out of the trees, so it could well be cooler. Not sure about what the path up to Braerich is like from there, but there's one on the m...

Re: Don't know where to start with waterproof for munro bagg

Tbh, if your happy with Decathlon then i'd stick with them. Their more 'technical' range is normally in the climbing section and is called Simond.

Re: A different five Mounth Munros circuit

Think folk forget you can access these from Clova. Looks like a nice round, have done something similar. If your keen Lochnagar etc are all doable from there.

Re: Spitball of Glen Muick parking

You don’t need to use the machines with nts membership in England as our car stickers have a date on them. Just make sure you have the correct sticker on your car of course.

Re: Backpack strap cleaning

Put it through the washing machine. In a pillowcase if you are worried about things crashing around.

Re: Devils point from Linn of Dee

The path to the north of the Dee is mostly a work of fiction on the map and out of spite occasionally pretends to be good. The south side is okish but on a bike it’s splitting hairs to see how far you can get if just doing Monadh Mor and Beinn Bhrotain.

Loch Nan Stuirteag is a pleasant spot.

Re: Devils point from Linn of Dee

Derry Lodge every time. The white bridge approach is not great despite the path.
I’d not bother cycling further than luibeg although that’s not to say it’s not possible.
