A mixed day..

With a fresh snow fall and a few days of work Friday was looking good for a day in the hills. My original plan was to do the 2 Munro's next door Beinn a Dothaidh & Beinn Dorain but decided to meet up with Duggie12 who had posted on WH instead agreeing to meet at the car park about 8am. Weather f...

Sunrise at the Old man of Storr

This was our fourth trip to Skye in as many years , we manage 3-4 days every year but as my wife doesn't enjoy hill walking I've yet to climb a Munro here, although I'm itching to do so as we always get good weather when we're here and this weekend we had perfect clear skies . I've read the reports ...

Shiehallion , boot's in the snow

It's been a while since my last walk, :( actually Ben Nevis in September in fact  , the weather last year was just pants on my rest days, hopefully it won't be repeated this year. With such a long break I looked for an easy Munro to kick start 2016 and with the weather forecast looking promis...

Finally... a walk in the sunshine

I think Glencoe is fast becoming one of my favourite area's. My last walk was in April just down the road  :? due to the rubbish summer weather. I tend not to walk at weekend's unless desperate as my job allows me rest days during the week, even so its been impossible to tie up a free day wit...

Re: Satmap active 12 vs Garmin 64s

Hi I've owned a Satmap 12 for the last year. Have'nt felt the need to purchase any other maps yet as the 1:50 sale OS base map has been fine , I forked out the extra £40 for the waterproof cover but it makes pressing buttons etc awkward but it does it job in protecting it. Don't by the screen protec...

It was worth the wait......

Theses Munro's had been on my winter hit list and with a rest day and perfect weather coming together as one ,it would have been criminal not to go out. 1a (640x200).jpg . By 8am I was leaving the car park heading up the glen. 2a (640x305).jpg . The weather was set to be great all morning with very ...

Re: Sunny-clear day in snowy Arrochar Alps (my 1st report he

Some nice pictures there. I walk by myself a lot and find the 10 second timer on my cannon nowhere long enough to get good selfies . Unfortunately I don't know what camera you use but if it helps Amazon etc sell wireless remote shutter releases which means no more rushing about trying to beat the ti...
