Re: Easing lockdown with an Atholl amble

Quincy wrote:Nice report and pics. Good effort for your first post lockdown munros. The midges were pretty fierce this weekend we had clouds of them at Loch Laggan.

Thanks Heather. From all the reports I’m seeing on FB and Twitter the wee beasties have been having a feast all over Scotland this weekend!

Easing lockdown with an Atholl amble

2020 ... the year of turning 60 and retiring after 42 years as a medic with lots of trips planned, mostly involving the Highlands, to make the most of this new found luxury called free time. And then COVID19 came along to keep us all firmly under wraps. My services were not required back on the fron...

Wow! Thanks very much, am glad you enjoyed those reports. I'll let Maisie know the good news when I get home. So far I'm going halves with MountainThyme and the dog, not much left for me

Re: A'Mhaighdean summit camp

Lovely report. I was lucky enough to get THAT view as well - one of the most special hill moments ever.

Re: WH Summer Meet - Inverie - 10-12 July 2020

Well as I had to miss Bearnock, and will miss Glencoe, it would be exceptionally rude to miss this one too, count me in please Jax.
Presumably there's somewhere to leave cars in Mallaig?

Octoberfest: sun and snow on superb Achnashellach Munros

A bit slow off the mark with this, work and lurgy have slowwwwwwed me down ... but it's worth sharing (I hope) because of the sheer fabulousness of the day we had (we = me and the dog, Maisie). This was the First of October, early autumn at it's crisp and golden finest. The previous couple of days h...

Re: WALKHIGHLANDS AUTUMN MEET 25th/26th Oct 2019

A tentative plan for walking on the Saturday: Tom a' Choinich and Toll Creagach, Glen Affric. Not too far away and a book time of 6-8 hours so should make it back for the quiz! (Just). Happy to be accompanied by similarly broad minded individuals! Thinking I may join you on this walk. Am I br...

Re: Attadale Munros: the night is dark and full of Terriers

Nice stuff Mr W! That's the thing about hillwalking - you never know when you might bump into some unsavoury characters! I do miss nights in a tent with a wet, smelly dog! :( Thanks Sir, glad I avoided six of the best there. I thought there was a prospect of further canine company on the Dewa...

Re: Wet! Wet! Wet! Giving Am Faochagach Some Welly!

Big fan of the Lochcarron spar (no commercial interests either). Managed to get a spare battery for my car key there as well as a wee screwdriver to fit it. Sounds like I need to save up my £11.99 and return for some wellies.

Re: Attadale Munros: the night is dark and full of Terriers

Nice one Jonathan....the day I did these two chaps suddenly appeared from the loch area and tried to "attach" themselves to me in the climb up the two hills. I wasn't too keen, as I didn't really want to be responsible for two complete strangers.....can hardly look after myself......the s...
