Thank you, it's nice to know someone has read and enjoyed this report after all ths time!! I walked the Union canal a couple of months or so after I'd done the Forth & Clyde, then walked the Caledonian Canal ,starting at Fort William, the following year. I was quite chuffed when I'd completed th...

Re: Trig point removal

There are still a few dozy old f**ts who navigate by map and compass, and it's a great comfort to have it confirmed that we are where we hoped to be. I'd rather come across a lump of concrete on a hill than a flock of wee Eck's windmills

150 and counting

Congratulations to freewheelin on bagging his 150th. Munro at the weekend. (Stob Coire Easian). He was as usual accompanied by the noted Smartie snuffler Matthew C, himself only a couple or so short of that number.

Weel done!! :) :)

Re: Wind Farms

I seem to have struck a chord with many of you with this post and thanks for taking an interest. As it happens I live between the Whitelee windfarm, the largest on shore windfarm in Europe, and Hare Hill windfarm, which was the largest until Whitehill was built, and can actually see some of the Whit...

Wind Farms

Last week I was out in the Ochils, up to Ben Cleuch from Tillicoutry, across to Andrew Gannell Hill, Kingseat, Bank Hill and down to Dollar. I found there's now a windfarm on the north slope of Ben Cleuch, and could see another on Doune Braes and a third behind Glendevon. Today I was out in the Lowt...

The Forth and Clyde Canal

The Forth and Clyde Canal is 35 miles/56km long and runs across Scotland, from Carronshore on the Forth to Bowling on the Clyde and was constructed between 1768 and 1790. This might seem like a very long time but no work was carried out between 1778 and 1785 due to lack of finance and Britain's preo...

Dear Deer

Heading home on 23rd. October, after a week based in Fort Augustus whilst I walked the Great Glen, my wife and I detoured into Glen Etive, and came across these chaps just 20 yards off the road. It was a bit of a surprise, at this time of the year you'd expect them to be on the hill putting a smile ...

Re: Post your best photo

Ooooooooooops!! I've just had it whispered in my ear via an awfy polite PM that the photo of a winterised Corra Linn I posted on 16/10/10 was actually Bonnington Linn. Two thoughts spring to mind: a) out of 150 viewers of the photo only one seems to have been a Falls of Clyde fan. b) I've known for ...
