Re: Drones

I've yet to come across anyone using them on the hills, but the few I've seen being used on the beach have been fairly quiet. I think there's still a novelty value to them at the moment, but as they become more commonplace, they'll probably become more annoying. It's clear they do have their uses, t...

Re: Perfection in miniature - a Hebrides tour (day 1)

Your photos capture the feel and the atmosphere of the islands perfectly. Maybe I shouldn't have read your report minutes before going in to work having just had a week off in Scotland, as now I don't want to go in to work :( Great report, though, with some beautiful photos. You really do get some g...

Re: A trip to the north eastern hills

Well, that's totally put me to shame  I was up there about the same time, but just doing one a day and then relaxing in the afternoon. In fact, I was on Carn Ealasaid the same day as you, although I went up from the hotel to the south-east. Nice, quiet part of the world up there, even with th...

Lost: Galaxy Ace 2 smartphone

Bit of a long shot is this, but if anyone finds a Galaxy Ace 2 smartphone on either of the sub-2000 ft Marilyns of Meikle Conval and Little Conval (north-east of Ben Rinnes near Dufftown), please let me know.

Many thanks

Re: Posting Advice

I must admit, I find it hard to give advice as it's impossible to know the enquirer's level of competence or confidence. I would hate to tell someone that the Aonach Eagach was relatively straightforward, only to find that that person had attempted it and got into difficulty  I suppose it's o...

Re: Imperial vs Metric

Temperature is a bit of a weird one. In winter we tend to use Celsius, but in the summer we use Fahrenheit.
Maybe we like to use whichever unit sounds the more dramatic: we go walking in -4 degree temperatures (Celsius) in winter, but we also go in 80 degree heat (Fahrenheit) in the summer.
