Camping on or near Schellion, mount Keen or Meall Chuaich

Hi all.

I was hoping to get away walking soon and I've picked out these three.

My question is this. Is there anywhere to camp on the hills, somewhere quiet flat?

I was wanting to take my 16 year old so we would need space for two smaller tents.

TIA.

Re: EE phone coverage near Ben Lawlers

Well, we made it. No zombies, werewolves, pedos or axe murderers. Incidentally the signal is fine in certain spots, so my wee boy got to watch youtube after all. Shock horror. Well fancy that, surprise surprise. I hope the impending fear didn't spoil you trip for you both   It didn't, obv...

Re: EE phone coverage near Ben Lawlers

At the risk of starting an argument. There are countless people on here who state their intentions/walk plans seeking advice or guidance on said walk/hill/route. Is this advice that you give to all of them? I would feel not. So why feel the need now? The OP has stated his physical attributes, and a...

Re: EE phone coverage near Ben Lawlers

Sorry, I don't know about the phone coverage. You could check their coverage map though: https://ee.co.uk/why-ee/mobile-coverage The main thing I wanted to mention here is that it might not have been a good idea to tell the world where you and your child are going to camp this Friday, as all the pe...

EE phone coverage near Ben Lawlers

Hi all.

Does anyone know how good the phone coverage is near the Lawlers dam?

I'm wanting to go camping this Friday with my 10 year old and I would feel better if I knew I had a reasonable signal.

Thanks.

Re: winter camping help. I'm still cold

Thanks everyone.
The following night I used my multimat and a Vango latitude 400 and i was fine. The bag isn't as good but being synthetic I wasn't cold on my back/bum area.

I'll keep trying the suggestions.

Re: winter camping help. I'm still cold

I do have a foam roll mat so I'll try that and I'll try my synthetic bag too.

Re: winter camping help. I'm still cold

Yeah I think it's the mat although it's supposed to be for camping in the winter. I'm trying my multimat tonight to see if I'm still cold. It's really just my back and bum that's cold, as if the mat just isn't doing its job.

winter camping help. I'm still cold

Hi all. I really like camping in winter and I've invested good money in my kit yet I'm still cold. Admittedly I do feel the cold. I have a Tundra pure -10 down bag, https://www.tundrasleepingbags.com/sleeping-bags/pure/pure-minus-10 an Exped winterlite mat, http://www.exped.com/usa/en/product-catego...

Re: Sleeping pads for lower back pain

Hi all, I love wild camping but am plagued with bouts of lower back pain, mainly from the Sacroiliac joint. I have tried a variety of sleeping mats over the years but never seem to get it quite right. My most recent purchase is a Thermarest Neoair X Lite. It is only 170g, warm and is fairly thick t...

Re: Hill Rage - A cautionary tale

The guy has completely over reacted, he's the wanker. I often leave my bag if i know i'm coming back the same route, sometimes I hide it sometimes I dump it if the hill is empty. If i was contemplating suicide I wouldn't climb a **** hill with a rucksac. i would jump out of a very high building or a...

Re: south and north glenshiel ridges over two days?

You are allowed to park in the car park across the road from the Cluanie Inn and it is is free. The parking charge gravy train hasn't travelled this far north yet - thank god :D All they ask is that you leave details of your plans for safety reasons. All the best :D I'm pretty sure I would go in af...

in that case maybe it's best to do the south ridge and then head up the north ridge in the middle and go right towards Sailage, camp then do the brothers and head back to the pub.
