What dogs, are good hill dogs ?

Hi Folks
After 4 years mourning my last pet I think it’s time to get a new member of our family. I was wondering what people’s opinions are on dogs that are particularly suited to climbing hills ? And good with children (I have a seven year old).

Thanks in advance

Re: Icy Mountains

I done the Buchile last Sunday and it was seriously icy. There were about 20 folk, all with very good summer kit, trying to ascend the bealich. As we all know this is impossible without the spikey shoes but the were persistent to the point of putting themselves and those below them in in danger.

Beinn Dearg

Hi folks.

I’m looking to do the Beinn Dearg 4 near Ullapool. Given how far it is from my home town I was going to camp the night before. Also B and B option out the window due astronomical price hikes. Anyway, does anyone know of any suitable car camp locations next to the start of this walk ?

Great idea, I hadn’t thought of that. Thanks

Avoiding Arrochar parking charges

Has anyone got any ideas on alternative car parking around the arrochar area ? I’ve been paying £9 a day and can’t afford it anymore.

Re: Corrour to Fersit/Tulloch via BNL and the other 2 munros

Done it twice, the ‘path’ becomes unusable / nonexistent after a while. I done the route the reverse from your proposed route, it’s a great walk

Re: So how busy was it?

Went to Arrochar last Thursday and it was starting to get really busy. Also there was strict enforcement of the parking there, with loads of fines being dished out. One final thing, the butter bridge car park has been completely taken over by rubble from the land slip.

Re: So how busy was it?

Linn of Dee was still quiet at 2pm on Friday when I came off the hill. Might have got busier later on that day though.

Can we wild camp ?

Hi everyone

I have asked Mountaineering Scotland and walkhighlands FB page the above question but got conflicting responses. Are we allowed to wild camp ?

I went to Braemar on Friday and saw no one ‘wild camping’ on the notorious A93 campsite ⛺️

Yes, had a look and think this is the one I will go for.

Thanks 😊

Re: Camp night before near Creag Meagaidh

I take it you don't want to carry your camping gear? As you can camp at Lochan a'Choire and on or near the summit. Na, ATM I could only manage a car camp or bike pack as my back is playing up. It looks like it would be a great place to camp though. Watched your YouTube video bye the way, gave me a ...
