Re: Ben Lawers Parking
The answer you got from Dave was surely helpful in updating you on current facilities? Your rather ungracious reply is unlikely to elicit further responses I'd have thought. I'm sure you didn't mean to come over as rude

Re: Dun da Ghaoithe circuit from Scallastle
And I've just noticed the time given. We were quick, but nearer 4 hours than three!

Re: Dun da Ghaoithe circuit from Scallastle
Please note; the distance and height gained are in good old-fashioned miles and feet.

Dun da Ghaoithe circuit from Scallastle
There has to be a better way! Last summer's half hearted attempt by the WalkHighland recommended route having convinced me that the "masts" approach had nothing to recommend it, I decided to explore a route more directly from the ferry terminal via Scallastle forest. A lovely circuit ensue...

Re: BEWARE firing range closes part of path
Cycled route recently. No red flags; but lots of firing and guys in camouflage. They looked very surprised to see us     I guess they were firing blanks but rather worrying nevertheless. Worse was the quagmire further north made by https://www.4x4adventures-scotland.com/t...

Re: Alpkit Jura Smock
Bitterly cold wind on Wednesday; wore my new Jura - it performed well. Similar to my old Buffalo Big Face Shirt, but comes with a hood and at a more modest price. A good piece of kit!!.

Re: A bike any use for Beinn Mholach?
Either side of Loch Garry works on a bike. East side road goes a bit further south.

Re: Munroitis: A Peculiarly Scottish Affliction.
What Scotland needs... is an Alfred Wainwright to bring a bit of humour and interest to the normally very dry Munro guides. I have 2 and neither of them are very exciting. :D Scotland already has one. he's called Hamish Brown; and Hamish's Mountain Walk is so much more interesting than any Wainwrig...

A Ring of Tarf
We planned a big circuit, taking in over two days the remote hills south of the Feshie/ Geldie moat, followed by a traverse of the Beinn a Ghlo range. A start was gained by walking in to Allt Sheicheachan on the Thursday evening, surprising the lone occupant who had turned in for the night; a share ...

Ben Lawers
Fraser and I; beautiful day. Late start. Took ice axes but didn't really need em. Returned by flanking track (wasn't there when I last did Ben Ghlas in 1979), to Corranaich col. A real "Tourist Route" on Saturday!
