Conic Hill

Really straightforward walk. No drama, was consistently steep I suppose but the new path made it really easy. I was expecting a more satisfying walk to be honest :(

Great views, cold wind.

Corse Hill

First exercise of the year, a fairly long cycle from the Whiteley wind farm visitor centre to Corse Hill. A dog chased the bike and apparently it was my fault according to an old middle class witch...it's not my fault your mongrel has a discipline problem. Anyway, once away from the granny loop clos...

Re: Hiking Eateries

Murrays Bakery Perth do a good Scotch pie.

Hastie & Dyce in the Victorian market Inverness for their football pie.

Elderslie Butchers for their Macaroni pie.

The Little Bakery in Dumfries do great chicken pies.

Cairn Lodge & Tebay services have good Scotch eggs.

Re: Why are waterproof GTX boots not waterproof ?

I had a couple of pairs of Berghaus gortex boots that were replaced under warranty due to them leaking, one pair less than a year old. I bought a pair of Scarpa Mescalito gortex boots last November and my feet get wet even walking through wet grass after a mile or two. It’s not sweat and my toe nai...

The Aonach Twins

Great conditions for a fairly rugged walk. The initial walk-in was fine (quiet too), the path to Steall Falls is lovely but once you start up the hill things so begin to change, a steep n rough climb but the views were worth the effort. A few more steep pulls but on better ground before the first su...

Glen Etive Munros finished

A glorious day on the hills, a walk that took much longer than it should have but you only go as fast as the slowest walker right?

My friends first Munro, she struggled but still got there in the end so congratulations to her.

I felt good, I felt strong on this walk.

'Push' bike n hike

A long hot day, pushed the bike most of the way to the bothy before walking up the fairly straightforward ascent of the hill. I enjoyed some really nice long rests, just enjoying the vistas cooling breeze. The last section of the hill climb is tougher than I thought, it seems so close but goes on fo...

Stuchd an Lochain

Another great day in Glen Lyon. Having slept in the car I was only semi up for this walk but once I got going I was fine. I was really ready for just how steep the start of the walk was but I soon got in the groove. I was first to summit on the day and passed what seemed like an endless stream of fo...

Meall Buidhe Glen Lyon

Great sunset walk. I had to race up and down the hill before it got dark but I made it no bother.

I slept in the car.

My first Bike n Hike

My first Bike & Hike. I had an really great day out.

I'm a bit annoyed that I can't plot my route on this walk report because I took a different route in and out and I have no way of knowing a more accurate distance and ascent.

Ben A'an

A friend and I took a jolly up Ben A'an, she had wanted to do this walk for ages. We got a great day for it and spent a good 40 minutes at the top.

I took a fall coming down the steps.

Re: Buzzard Attack!!

Has anyone had the misfortune to be attacked by a damn Buzzard or several of them to be precise. I was dive bombed by at least 3 or 4 while walking through Lossiemouth woods. I have never heard of this happening before so googled it and sure enough there are pictures of people being badly injured b...

Drumochter lumps

Took a punt on a bad weather forecast, it worked out...just.

Easy day out and it wasn't even that boggy as we were leaving the hill the wind really picked up and then the rain but it didn't matter at this point :D

Beinn Mhic-Mhonaidh

A bit of a soggy claggy slog, steeper than expected. The plantation was nicer than expected. Lot's of breaks for my walking pal, her first hill of the year and first since July last year and second ever so she done really well to stick with it when it would have been easier to quit. On to the next o...

An easy walk, straight up and down. The weather was great. No drama.
