Re: New Grahams!!!

Nice one Paul for an inventive and respectful rebranding. The trademarking of Grahams doesn't come across great in my personal opinion. Having the height limit lowered to 600m, under the circumstances, comes across as someone flexing muscle. Disappointing to see interpersonal politics spill over lik...

Re: Bob Scott Bothy theft.

Second Caberfeidh. Why not just avoid trial by social media and let the police do their job?

Re: For the record -

In the crevasse just under the trig on the Ben More, Crianlarich, yesterday: two piles of human sh*te, one very fresh, fresh loose loo roll, fag butts, fag packets, food wrappers stuffed into cracks. Maybe the worst I've ever seen a summit.

Re: Right to roam v Private Road

I walked through there on a circuit of Auchineden Hill in the winter and certainly noticed all the private signs. Interesting to see that the forestry track going past the cluster of houses is marked on the map, but it's been swallowed up by the garden of the last house. We went around the perimeter...

Re: New here. Plucking up courage to do my first solo camp

The axe murderer thing seems to go away pretty quickly. Couple years after I started hillwalking (start of August 2009) my brother and I went through Mugdock Country Park in the middle of the night (I grew up by Glasgow). We both scared ourselves absolutely s***less. A week or so after that, I did a...

Re: Record attempt: Slowest compleation, 14349 days and coun

Again it's impossible to be sure, but anecdotally I seem to see mention of a lot of modern completions taking between five and ten years first to last. In earlier times 25-35 years was completely normal - eg I finished a month shy of 25 years and whereas in say 1990 that would have felt very averag...

Re: Sgurr na ciche from l.nevis

It's a long ridge to the summit of Sgurr na Ciche including a moment of scrambling. I came down it a couple months ago and it is rough! If you are looking to sync up with a boat you're best to answer that based on what you know about your pace. Maybe one thing to do is plot a route on the Walk Highl...

Re: Cape Wrath Trail and Deer stalking in October

Camusrory Estate (Knoydart) show the CWT route as being free from stalking hassle. (that is around the head of Loch Nevis, up the River Carnach and over the Mam Unndalain to Barisdale.

So more generally, I wonder if estates view the route as being a popular way for walkers, so ignored for stalking.

Re: The Torridon Triple?

And if doing a linear route, my first thought was that it would work to go north from Spidean a' Choire Leith, down the ridge to join the path into Coire Mhic Fhearchair. Did that in the winter and nothing harder than the pinnacles.

Re: Well done to walkhighlander Kevin Woods

Regards the Cuillin, we soloed except the abseils, two pitches up the InPinn and a short pitch out the An Caisteal gap. Did a day from the InPinn to Sgurr nan Eag, a second day Gillean to Mhadaidh, then the following day back for Banachdaich & Ghreadaidh to complete.

Re: Well done to walkhighlander Kevin Woods

Jeezo thanks all for the thoughts, I am very grateful. Some thoughts on specifics, the Southern Highlands/Glen Coe (up to Loch Leven/Rannoch, 73 Munros) were 22 walking days. Plus a couple days off: one of those was a mental storm end of December. Mega lean conditions meant quick moving, but stormy ...

Found - ice axe Carn an Tuirc

In the glen running up to Carn an Tuirc from the A93 and it didn't look as though it had been there long, possibly. A description always handy and I'll get it back to you. Cheers.
