Re: Uamh Tom a Fir-Mor

Went up there in 2020 between lockdowns. Not an easy find, you are looking for a hole in the ground rather than a picture of a cave entrance you might have in your head. look for the grassy area to the west of the Allt a Choire Glais river, just before it merges with the wider Allt Creag a' Mhadaidh...

Glenmore Long Stay Parking

Anyone got experience of overnight parking in Glenmore? We're hoping to dump a car or two for a couple of nights in the area. Ideally I'd like to park at the funicular base station (or as close to it as possible) and/or the Allt Mor Car Park. Does anyone know restrictions prices. At a pinch we could...

Re: Suggestions for low / mid level walks

The Aberfoyle/Trossachs area or Dunkeld/Pitlochry/Killiecrankie areas are both accessible from Edinburgh, great walking country. If the weather isn't so good up there try Melrose and the Eildon hills.

Re: Trotternish Ridge / wild camping

There is a sign before you get to the Old Man saying 'You are advised not to go beyond this point' (not that anyone takes any notice) but I guess that means camping is discouraged too. Not to put a damper on anything but I tried to backpack the ridge twenty five years ago and had to abandon it. Not ...

Re: lairig ghru walk

Re: Lairig Ghru recently?

OK, for anyone who's still interested, went through on the 13th, pretty elemental stuff, blizzards and the like. Lairig Ghru path still had snow around (and, more worryingly, over) the Pools of Dee. Nothing too tricky ... but watch where you are putting your feet!

Re: Lairig Ghru recently?

I'm planning on going through next weekend, I'd be interested in getting an eyewitness account of accumulated snow in upper reaches of the Lairig Ghru too ... so please keep the reports coming!
