Re: Beinn nan Aighenan, Glen Etive.

Hi quagga64 Thanks for the mention in your report above. Back from my Hebridean Way which was fantastic. I had some fantastic weather and met lots of great people. It was great to chat to you on the hill that day. Keep up the good work and enjoy all the hills you've got left to do. Might bump into y...

Re: Cape Wrath trail 2014: video log, reflections and FAQ

Excellent report Peter. Reports are a great way of gathering up vital information for a planned trip and you can take something different out of them all. I did the CWT last year, also solo, and loved every minute of it. Not having managed to fit in any treks this year I intend to do it again next y...

Re: Cape Wrath Trail - part 1 of 2

Thanks mountainstar and gammy leg walker. This is the first time I have put a report on the site.

Mountainstar - Your report on the CWT was really helpful to me. I used your timings as estimates when I was at the planning stage.

Cape Wrath Trail - part 1 of 2

April 27th – May 19th 2013 This has to be one of the most exciting and scary things I have ever done. Ever since picking up a book in a charity shop about this trail, I knew I had to do it, one day. Never having done any backpacking in my life before, I had no idea if I was able to walk day after d...

Re: Winter skills intro

Hi there

Have you looked on the Mountaineering Council of Scotland site? They do lots of different courses including a winter skills one. The winter skills one is based at Glenmore Lodge.

Here is a link to the page. Worth comparing the prices.

Re: corryhully bothy

I wouldn't think there would be a problem especially on a Monday. Most bothies empty after a Friday and Saturday night. Also, this bothy is a decent size, plenty of floor space even if you couldn't get onto one of the wooden platforms. I stayed there in May on a Friday night and hubby and I had it t...

Re: Torridon or An Teallach

Oh, my, what a difficult choice. :? I suppose alot may depend on who you intend going up the hill with (if anyone), as Red Peak mentioned. You want everyone to get to the summit. They both have accommodation handy and a pub nearby so no decisions to be made on that score. Torridon is my favourite pl...

Re: wild camping

If you stick to the tracks on the map then I worked it out to be 7.08km with an estimated time of 1hr 36mins from the Loch to the hotel. Long way for a pint

Re: wild camping

Hi Darren You could take the train to Corrour station (great train journey and good cafe at the station) and walk out to Loch Ossian, there is also a YH there. Or take train to Bridge of Orchy and cross the hump back bridge behind the hotel and you could camp anywhere along that road, down next to t...
