Re: Only 10 left - and boy was this tough

What are the galoshes/overshoes/whatever that you used for the river crossings (I could have done with something like that on my recent trip North...). Are they strong enough not to be damaged by sharp stones?

Re: Thoughts for first Munro for a six year old

We loved our day climbing Leum Uilleim, but had waited for ages for perfect weather and only booked train tickets the night before. The train journey to Corrour was excellent, the views from the top were amazing. Sitting outside the Station restaurant with some lovely food and a cool beer before th...

Re: Family of hikers visiting for the first time!

It's a rather short walk at around 2½ miles but the Lost Valley in Glen Coe is quite an adventure for a wee one. It can get a bit busy but that's because it's generally regarded as quite a special place. https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/fortwilliam/lostvalley.shtml Another short but exciting one (an...

Re: Warning - Electric fences & livestock

[Electric fences] are not to be messed with, but it's hard to tell if they are actually switched on. without touching them. I recently saw some videos on YouTube that showed you can tell if an electric fence is live by touching it with a long blade of grass. You slowly move your hand closer to the ...

Re: Suilven from the East, with complications

How wide (and how deep) is that cleft on Meall Beag? (Not that I'd be tempted to jump it at any scale..)

Re: Assynt/NW - hillwalk options for little ‘uns

Try the (fairly easy) walk from Inchnadamph to the Traligill caves, which includes the exciting roaring cave (Uamh an Tartair).

Typo on front page

The latest item on the front page is showing "Condtions over Ambitions" - also the heading of the article itself.

Re: collapsible trekking poles

I recently bought a pair of Robens Coniston T7 Folding poles and used them on some Munros - a snip at £50 a pair from Cotswold (and I got 10% discount!) Very light (though that might mean they're not strong enough for some) and they collapse to about 37cm. https://www.cotswoldoutdoor.com/p/robens-co...

Re: Let it snow! Let it snow!

Nice report and great photos. I did this walk in mid-June 2015 on a beautifully clear but very windy day. There were still some patches of snow near the top, and I saw a ptarmigan with two young chicks.

Steall Falls path - reopened?

Can anyone confirm that the Steall Falls path (from the end of the Glen Nevis road) has been reopened after the recent repair works, which were due to be from 26 August to 3 September? I'm passing through the area tomorrow and fancy a quick walk up to the falls to stretch my legs.

Re: Two Assynt Munros (and a Corbett)

Thanks for a great report, and what a wonderful day you had for it. I was thwarted by terrible weather last time I was in Assynt, but this has inspired me to try to get back there and have a go at those Munros.

Re: Tiny images on home page

Thanks Paul. I tried clearing the cache, and also using other browsers, but, as they say, the problem persists..

Edit: after some more tweaking (clearing cookies, logging off and on again, etc) the full-size images are back :)
