Re: Sleeping Bags

Difficult one, as much depends on budget, weight limit and how warm you sleep. I have a Mammut Winter UL Sphere (750 grams of down) and it has kept me really warm summit camping in true winter conditions (-8 Celcius at night, 1100 grams for XL version). I chose this one as I found it for less than h...

Re: Sgor, Sgorr or Sgurr

Thanks very much malky_c and nigheandonn, that's been really helpful. I got criticised on my Facebook page where I share mountain photos. And I would like to claim I take correct spelling as seriously as I do with my photography, so I would definitely want to get the spelling right. The person comme...

Sgor, Sgorr or Sgurr

Hi all, I recently got criticised for referring to the Pap of Glen Coe as Sgorr na Ciche, as this is how it's stated on the OS maps, and that it should be Sgurr. Other person: "and the rugged mountains are Sgurr not Sgorr. " Sgurr na Ciche however, is a different mountain in Knoydart, so u...

Re: The Mamores Ridge

What an epic set of photographs of some of the most beautiful mountains in Scotland, and it must have been a true test of endurance. Hope the legs are recovered by now! It was a great day for a walk indeed, somebeatiful lenticular clouds about too! I think I have seen you near the minor summit betwe...

Re: Advice on good Munro for wild Camping

Hi, I have wild camped on a bunch of hills in Scotland over the last few years, as photography is one of the reasons I'm up in the hills. Many hills will have enough near-flat space on or near the summit to pitch a small tent, though it may be boggy or very stoney. Suggestions and Munros I've camped...

Re: An Excess of Excitement on Beinn Dearg

What a cracking report Annie. The views must be astounding, and it must be great having that ridge all to your self. I attempted to wild camp on the ridge more than a month ago, aiming to do the route clock-wise but turned back before reaching Stuc Loch na Cab. It was so steep, and the terrain was e...
