Munros #4-13: Two Trips, Six Walks, A BIG Gap

What a joy to be back in Scotland! The two trips on this log are bisected by the Covid restrictions and as different as the conditions were between a trip to Braemar in February 2020 and Killin in July 2021, the difference in my own mindset at points over that period is probably greater. But don’t w...

Re: Ben Lawers 7

This is the exact route I and four friends hope to do later this year so thanks for posting. Your timings are really good to see to give some gauge of what to expect as we'll hopefully have just jumped off a place in Glasgow before we do it. Great report!

Re: Golden Sunrise and an epic adventure!

This cheers me up while in my wet Wiltshire surroundings but it's also annoying as I'll not be coming to Scotland until February! Thanks for posting.

Re: GoPro footage - Ben Vorlich (Loch Lomond)

This is a great video, nice track choice as well. I went up there with a couple of mates at the end of March in 100% clag so it's nice to see the views but clag days make the clear days better. Terrific stuff.

Re: Munro #1: First Times and Film Sets On Ben Vorlich

Nice first report. You'll be a real addition to this forum. You already knew that having reached the summit you had only climbed 281.5 hills, something some people never learn. We met someone on holiday once who is still on the Hilary step. Thanks Sgurr. We're looking forward to our next visit, book...

Munro #3: Happily Settling on Meall nan Tarmachan

$matches[2] Having had a couple of walks the in the two days before, this was the final full day of our escape from spreadsheets and commuting. The clocks had gone forward and we’d overslept* so the plans we’d decided on went flying out the window like a cat when it hears the vacuum cleaner start. ...

Re: Munro #2: English, Dutch and Frogs on Beinn Chabhair

[ The greater part of the walk is very soggy and the large volume of water on the plateau allows innumerate frogs and probably toads to live up here. I love the idea of innumerate frogs. How did you find out? Did you set a quick multiple option test? I've found ptarmigan are particularly poor on ga...

Re: Munro #2: English, Dutch and Frogs on Beinn Chabhair

Brilliant! I really enjoyed that, well written. I've yet to climb Beinn Chabhair but want to do it along with An Caisteal and Beinn a' Chroin as it looks like a grand big day out. I've heard it's very boggy but if your naming convention is to be followed then a large percentage of hills woul...

Munro #2: English, Dutch and Frogs on Beinn Chabhair

$matches[2] Still chuffed from ticking off Munro #1 the day before (https://www.walkhighlands.co.uk/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=88052), we had started planning what we could do next on the descent of it and realised the choice we had was as big as it’ll ever be. That said, staying in Tarbet is gr...

Munro #1: First Times and Film Sets On Ben Vorlich

$matches[2] This walk is where we lost it. Not our marbles, the car, nor the obvious first encounter of teenage years. I talk of losing ‘another’ virginity, that of our first bagged Munro. We will always remember her. My two good friends since school of 25 years Nick and Tim shared their happy loss...

Hello

Two friends and I have just this weekend started the long commitment to completing the Munros. One of them and I have ...
